In a world full of basics and common white girls, I pride myself on being out of the ordinary and raw in authenticity. I don't want to be normal; I want to be myself.
I make jokes some may find very inappropriate. I have a sarcastic sense of humor. I sing songs I love at the top of my lungs. And I may awk out sometimes, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
So many people spend their days afraid of what others think of them. They work at places they hate and stand in the background because they're afraid to say their opinions. They hide their unique personalities just so they won’t rock the proverbial boat. No one ever made a difference by avoiding being different. It’s the weirdos who really run the world.
There will always be people who might not like it, but here is why I will always stay true to myself and IDGAF what anyone thinks.
Because who I am is more fun.
I'm the only me there is, so why change it to fit what other people want? I am never going to alter my outgoing, sparkling personality to be what other people think I should be.
Being myself is exciting. It's fun and it makes ME happy. Trying to be someone else, like an insecure middle schooler, is a waste of time and energy. Instead, I'm going to spend my time winning at life by being ME.
Because it’s utterly exhausting to be anyone else.
Being someone else is just exhausting, not to mention boring. Everyone has tried to be "different" or tried to "tone it down" but to tell you the truth, it doesn't work.
It makes life harder and makes you try way too hard on irrelevant things, and I won't do it so love me or hate me.
Because if you do what the status quo is, you can never be unconventional.
If you do what is expected of you, you can never surprise anyone. You can never have that spark everyone is looking for that is different. I'd end up like a black and white movie in a world of color.
If you always follow the rules, you'll never stand out from the crowd. If you end up like a carbon copy of everyone else, you'll never be the person someone remembers.
Because I want REAL friends.
I don't want anyone around me who doesn't know the real me. The sarcastic, dirty joke, vulgar, weird me. Why would you want to hangout with anyone who likes the fake version of yourself anyways?
Even when you are unapologetically yourself, they’re the ones who will stick around- Real friends. Now that I am older, I don't have time for friends who are only looking to have fun, I want the ride-or-die who will stick it out no matter what.
Because I’ll never make everyone like me.
As everyone knows, we never want anyone to not like us. It's one of the biggest fears of why people are "fake" or are not their true selves.
Truth is, even if you hide your true self, and are the "fake" person you portray, there will always be people who still won't like you.
I'd rather be disliked for being exactly who I am, than someone I am pretending to be.
Because it’s the only way to be successful.
When you're hiding behind some made-up persona, you can never be successful. To me, success is also happiness, so how can you focus on what's important if you're too busy focusing on being someone else?
I will not compromise my dreams or ambitions to fit in. It seems like all the successful people are the ones that say "screw it" and do it anyway, right?
Because no one else can be me.
I am a flame that cannot be put out. One-hundred percent me, and I wouldn't want it any other way. Of course, it takes soul searching, growing up and living to find out who you are. But when you do, don't let anyone stop you from being you.
Yea I care way too much, have a big heart that can get hurt a lot, make really vulgar jokes, love batman and am super weird, but if you don't like that, IDGAF.
If anyone else tried to be me, that person would just fail miserably. As if someone would ever be as funny, authentic or interesting. I’ll stick to always being myself.
