As someone who grew up watching "Gilmore Girls," obsessing over all of Rory’s boyfriends (Team Logan… or Jess… or Dean… gah!) and Lorelai’s love interests (Team Luke, of course), I am beyond ecstatic for the new come-back episodes of "Gilmore Girls" to resurface.
It’s not like any other Hollywood myth, here to ruin my dreams. Oh no, Lauren Graham tweeted this photo last Friday to confirm the suspicions."Gilmore Girls" is back on, baby!
In case you haven’t watched the seasons all the way through 10,000 times like I have, here are some of the main reasons you should be excited over the reunion.
1. Lorelai may give the best mom advice of this century. Even though she may be the craziest, most lenient mom ever, her advice is spot-on, and it makes me wish on multiple occasions that I was Rory.
2. It’s a realistic show of what a house of girls is like. Unlike "Pretty Little Liars," "Gilmore Girls" is an accurate depiction of what living in an estrogen-filled, movie-watching, and joke-making household is like.
3. They love coffee as much as I do. Seriously. All they drink is coffee, like it runs thru their veins. No, it’s not tea or lattes; it’s Luke’s Diner’s mediocre black coffee, every time.
4. I leave every episode with too many emotions to name. I swear, this show makes me indecisive! I can’t tell whether I’m Team Jess or Team Logan, Team Pro-Emily or Anti-Emily, and definitely whether I’m Team Rory or Team Lorelai. Also, am I supposed to laugh or cry? Because I can’t decide. We all remember the graduation speech. *shudders*
5. It last aired in 2007. I have been waiting for too long! The seven seasons on Netflix just aren't enough! It is time for more "Gilmore" updates! I’m too addicted!
6. They taught me life lessons and familial love. I have never felt closer to my family then when my mom and I watched "Gilmore Girls" together. Seriously, although Lorelai is crazy, she teaches Rory a thing or two before the series’ infamous finale. Of course, Rory teaches Lorelai her fair share of life lessons.
7. Their love of food. Once again, the Gilmore girls are so similar to actual girls. One thing you learn about them: You can’t keep up with their stomachs. They are bottomless pits of Luke’s Diner and chinese food. Plus, Sookie’s cooking is enough to make my mouth water.
No matter where I go in life, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to get the "Gilmore Girls" out of my head. I constantly find myself throwing out their quirky phrases and trying to keep up with Rory’s book list (and her love life). If I could stay at the Dragonfly Inn in real-life Stars Hallow, I would be packing my bags and boarding the next plane tonight. However, because I can’t meet Lorelai, Rory, Sookie, Luke, Logan, Richard, Emily, Paris, Lane, Kirk, Michel, and Miss Patty (along with so many others) in real life, I will just have to settle for their TV versions.
So come on, Netflix, it’s time for you to bring me the "seasons" of "Gilmore Girls," for I have officially been Gilmored.
