Chihuahuas are kind of the worst. They’re so tiny that you accidentally trip over them, or they get lost in that pile of laundry you’re trying to sort. They’re the nuisance of the dog world. There’s no way anyone would be able to love these animals. There are thousands of reasons to hate this dog, but here are seven:
1. They’re constantly barking.
They're always in your face when you're trying to sleep. It's a loop of yap yap yap in your ear when you're watching TV. No matter what you try to do, they won't settle at all. They'll never sleep, even after you feed them.
2. They’re too active.
Since they're constantly barking, they're always moving, too. They never settle, ever. Give them a bowl of food or a new toy, and you won't hear the end of it. They'll wake you up at 2 a.m. because they want to play...or they heard a squirrel running on the roof, and they have the worst compulsion to chase it.
3. They hate everyone and everything.
You want a lap dog? Definitely not this breed. They won't go near you, even if you force love upon them. If you accidentally look at them the wrong way, they snarl and nip; you'll never find a best friend in them.
4. They keep everyone up at night.
One of their worst traits is chihuahuas have amazing hearing, so you'll never get a good night's rest if you have them around. They'll wake you up every hour or two, just like a newborn baby.
5. They hate wearing the doggy clothes that are bought for them.
It's winter and because there's snow on the ground, you buy your pup a sweater to keep him warm. Except, after it's been on for two minutes, he finds a way to take it off. Your pup is still cold, and you've wasted $13.
6. Their owners are stuck up and Paris Hilton-y.
Who wants to watch this snobby owner do yoga with his pet? You can count me out. Yoga is for the Paris Hiltons of the world - they're 100% the opposite of zen, which is what yoga is all about.
7. They’re only for girls.
The only time you'll ever see a chihuahua is with a self-identifying female. They're not masculine dogs, unfortunately. Being feminine is an extremely important requirement for owning this breed.
Note: In case you weren’t aware, this post is filled with sarcasm. All jokes aside, as a proud chihuahua owner, I can reveal that these stereotypes are anything but true. Actually, chihuahuas are one of the gentlest breeds to own. They may be a little harder to train, but every mess in the house is completely worth it. It doesn't matter if they're young or old, they will love you until their dying day if you love them just as much. They will quickly become your best friend, and you'll wonder why you never adopted any sooner.
