7 Reasons Why Cats Are Actually The Perfect Spirit Animals

Physically, my body is in its early twenties; however, I often feel like I am an 82 year old trapped in a 22 year old's body. There is nothing quite like coming home from work, changing into your pajamas at 5 o'clock on a Friday afternoon, and snuggling with your cats. Nothing like it. I love most animals, but I share a special bond with felines. I feel like if God wanted me to be anything other than a human, He would have made me a cat because let's be honest here, cats are my spirit animals. (Disclaimer:I am not 100% confident that I know the true definition of a spirit animal, but I am 100% confident that whatever a spirit animal is, that a cat is definitely mine.)

Here are 7 reasons why cats are the best animal an old soul can adopt as a spirit animal:

1. If you want to curl up with some hot tea on a Friday night and read a book while everyone else your age is out on the town, you have your cat's full lazy approval and no judgment. You do you.

2. Cats don't put up with annoying things or people. They freely give you grace to adopt this attitude too. Your perfect sass compliments each other. Someone doing something you don't like? Hiss at them. Perfect response. (Maybe not out loud, but we know you're doing it in your head.)

3. They are easily entertained by seemingly ordinary things. They like to stare at a moving laser beam for entertainment. You like to stare at a moving TV screen for entertainment. You were made for each other.

4. You have a cuddle buddy when you want one. If not, cats are fine with doing their own thing, and you are too. You have a mutually independent and dependent relationship with each other. (So much better than a clingy boyfriend am I right?)

5. They are low maintenance. You really only have to feed them, basically. Let's be real--the only thing any of us are really looking for in life is someone to feed us and make us happy.

6. You don't have to question whether or not your cat loves you. It tells you every day with constant purring and meowing. You are never left wondering how it feels about you.

7. They will love you unconditionally. Cats can't cheat on you. Cats can't break your heart. Cats can't talk back or argue with you. They simply love you exactly as you are with full acceptance.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
