7 Reasons Why Winter Is Better Than Fall

Out of all four seasons, it is difficult to pick a favorite. With each having its own characteristics that make it special, how does one decide which is best?

Something I've noticed over the past decade is this weird, newfound obsession with fall. Every girl and the occasional guy is just infatuated with the idea of fall and everything about it.

Picture it now: a girl dressed in boots, long socks, leggings, and an oversized sweater with an infinity scarf. Her hair is in a messy bun that she probably spent 15 minutes on. In her right hand, she holds a grande Starbucks cup. Can you guess what it says on the cup? If you guessed "PSL," you guessed correctly.

Personally, I love fall. It's a magical time of year when the weather isn't too hot or too cold. I get to drink yummy drinks and dress in cute outfits. It's great, but if I had to decide between fall or winter, I would pick winter in a heartbeat.

You simply cannot beat winter. It is the king of all seasons. It's the bee's knees. It's everything. Just living life in wintertime makes you feel different. Although we are currently obsessed with the idea of fall, winter is by far the happiest time of year, and here are seven reasons why:

1. Christmas, duh.

Christmas is the best holiday in my book. It's basically the center that winter revolves around. It brings people together, and it reminds us about what we cherish in life. If you're religious, it is the perfect time to celebrate. There is yummy food, good music, great movies, and last but not least, there are presents!

2. ABC Family's 25 Days of Christmas (and Christmas movies in general)

"Home Alone," "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," "Elf." These are just three of the hundreds of amazing movies based on Christmas. Out of the goodness of their hearts, ABC Family shows 25 days of these films to fill us with holiday cheer. You cannot help but love it.

3. Snow! Snow! Snow!

Although it is cold and slippery, snow is life. Waking up and looking outside and seeing a perfect white layer of snow covering everything around you is one of the best feelings in the world. No matter your age, you know you will be outside building a snowman. Don't deny it.

4. Christmas Lights

One of my favorite things to do during winter is drive around and look at everyone's Christmas lights. It is an odd yet satisfying feeling you get when you see that a whole neighborhood has lights up. Whether it is a simple stand of lights on the trim of a tree or it's completely decorated from top to bottom, it's all beautiful.

5. New Year's Eve

New Year's Eve is one of the best holidays, in my book. Champagne, fireworks, New Year's resolutions, and most importantly, New Year's kisses at midnight. It's a great way to reinvent yourself and start a new year of your life. Who doesn't love New Year's?

6. Football

I know there is football in the fall, but there is just something about football in the winter that makes it so much better. Bundling up in comfy clothes and jerseys, watching the game while there is snow on the ground— it is one of my favorite things about winter. Plus, the Super Bowl is in the winter, so that automatically makes it the best (Go Hawks!).

7. Eggnog and Gingerbread > Pumpkin Spice

Eggnog is way better than Pumpkin spice, and let's not forget Starbucks changes their cups to red cups in the winter.

I may or may not have convinced you, but I say we stop obsessing over fall and remember how awesome winter is instead! Is it Dec. 22 yet?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
