Over the course of my education at the University of South Florida, I have changed my major three times until I decided on English with a concentration in Literary Studies. Like most English majors, I enjoy the art of writing. I enjoy dissecting and analyzing pieces of work closely. We English majors do tend to get annoyed with what people have to say in regards to our major.
So here are seven things that most English majors are probably tired of hearing.
1. "So you're gonna be a teacher, right?"
2. "You have it so easy as an English major."
Please remind me if I wanted to write multiple 6-8 page papers over the course of the semester. Hint: the answer is no.
3. "So what are you going to do with your degree?"

I mean I'm probably going to do the same as most people nowadays and try to find a job or go to graduate school. But y'know, you probably think I'm going to be some Starbucks Barista trying make enough money to publish my first book.
4. "Do you want to be a writer?"

I mean I like to write, but I'm not trying to make it my main source of income.
5. "Can you read over my paper for me?"
I mean I guess I could, but I probably won't have the time as I'm trying to graduate myself.
6. "How are you going to find a job after college?"

I probably won't seeing as though I don't have any applicable skills.
7. "So when should I expect your book?"

Probably never. Even if I did, I probably would not write about you.
So as a bit of forewarning, try to avoid saying any of these. Try and ask them how their days is going instead.
