Hey party people, so this week I am going to talk about something that is very near and dear to my heart, something that I consider to be a big part of my life and is actually one of my hobbies: food. Like many of you, I thoroughly enjoy eating and, luckily for me, living in San Diego means that I have some pretty great options all around me. So if you're looking for some quality places to grub, check out this list of some of what I have experienced as the best places to eat in San Diego.

1. Ortiz's Taco Shop

This little slice of heaven is famous for its delicious Cali burritos (side note, if you've never had a Cali burrito, that should now be your number one priority in life). It's pretty cheap and super filling and as a bonus, it's right next to a dank donut place that you can hit up for some dessert afterwards.

2. Hodad's

Three words: best burgers ever. Plus their fries are amazing, too. My favorite part about Hodad's, though, is the actual restaurant because of its unique and retro-style decoration. The one in Ocean Beach even has this sick vintage VW bus parked out front that's decked out in a super hip fashion. Also you might want to set aside at least an hour for this burger run because the line is always out the door, but I guess that should tell you how life-changing it is right?

3. Lazy Hummingbird

If you're a San Diego native or live anywhere in SoCal, then you know that the obsession with acai bowls is 100% real. Well, let me just tell you that this is the spot. My friends and I, and half of my college campus, love this place. It has the best acai bowls hands down, and also houses some pretty good coffee, so it's a win-win. It's super cute and right in the heart of Ocean Beach, so it's perfect for a quick snack after a long and sunny beach day.

4. Wow Wow Waffles

I mean basically, wow. This adorable waffle place is in North Park and I can honestly say that it changed me and made me who I am today. Okay that may be a bit of an exaggeration, but guys, seriously, best waffles ever. Also North Park is awesome if you're into stuff like cool bookstores, cute shops and bomb coffee. May I just say, you're welcome.

5. BJ's

If you like pizza (which should be all of you) and tend to enjoy warm and delicious cookies topped with ice cream (aka pizookis), then this is where you need to be yesterday. If you've never had a pizooki, that should be your next priority (after the Cali burrito, of course).

6. Devine Pastabilities

Fun fact about me: my two favorite foods are pasta and bread. Basically, I love carbs. If you can relate then you absolutely need to go to Devine Pastabilities. Picture this: pasta, spaghetti and fettuccine inside of an Italian roll. I know. This is revolutionary stuff, people.

7. Swami's Cafe

This cozy and delicious restaurant is unique to San Diego and is also one of my personal favorites. It's famous for their breakfast, their authentic sandwiches and their acai bowls. So, 10/10 would recommend. P.S. it's always crowded so get there early!

Well, that's all for today folks. I hope this helps you in your times of hunger and need for some San Diego exploring. Enjoy!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
