As a passholder, you have the power to spend the day at Disneyland however you please because you can always come back throughout the year. As an annual passholder, you may:

1. Spend the day eating Disneyland's best treats.

Whether you attend the park during the day or night, you may take time to explore the magic of food at the Disneyland Resort. Go to all the stands and buy a treat from each. Popular items found at stands include turkey legs or cream cheese filled pretzels. Visit restaurants you could spend a little more time at, such as the Blue Bayou in New Orleans Square. Go for breakfast to enjoy Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes, lunch to eat sandwiches at the Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe located on Main Street, or dinner to order clam chowder served in a Sourdough Bread bowl at Pacific Wharf Café.

2. Dedicate your day to taking pictures around the parks.

In the age of social media, there are a lot of creative pictures to be taken at the resort. Find your favorite characters and snap a photo for Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. Use the Sleeping Beauty Castle or the Matterhorn as backdrops to your photos. Take the scenery of "Adventureland" or "Frontierland" to portray another world. At Disneyland, the opportunities of capturing your memories are endless.

3. Visit both Disneyland and California Adventure in one day.

Back and forth, back and forth. This is what a day for an annual passholder may look like! You have the freedom of choosing where you would like to start your day and end your day. The beauty of being a passholder is running back and forth with a stamp on the top of your hand (which glows in the dark on many rides, adding another exciting factor). Whether you only go on Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland and spend the rest of your day riding all the attractions at California Adventure, you have the liberty of coming back another day.

4. Avoid the crowds.

As an annual passholder, you learn when the best times are to attend the parks. If you do attend the park on a busy day, try going on rides while the parades are taking place. Many ticket holders attend the parades, which leads to a decrease in wait times for attractions. The parks are the emptiest when visiting in the early morning or late night.

5. Go solely for the fireworks, parades or shows.

Visiting the parks at night can be a special experience. Dress warm and comfortable, for many of the night attractions are located outside. Grab some popcorn and watch Disneyland's Electrical Parade. Disneyland's "Fantasmic!" is another popular show including many iconic Disney characters. At California Adventure, the "World of Color" is a well attended show in which clips from popular Disney movies are projected onto water. Being able to come for just the shows is a great benefit passholders possess.

6. Dine at Downtown Disney and take the monorail into the park.

One could make great memories dining at Tortilla Jo's, Rainforest Cafe, or Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen, all located at Downtown Disney. If you parked in the Downtown Disney parking lot and dined at one of the restaurants, you are able to have your parking validated. If you finish earlier than expected, and are an annual passholder, you may take the monorail into Disneyland and enjoy a few rides! This adds a level of convenience to being an annual passholder.

7. Embrace your spontaneity.

The best part about being an annual passholder is that you know you have the opportunity to come back to the park another day. It is okay if you do not get to everything that Disneyland and California Adventure have to offer. Go to the park to only visit the rollercoasters, watch the Frozen show at the Hyperion Theater, or eat pineapple dole whip by the Tiki Room. Although you may not have a plan when entering the park, you are bound to still make memories at the "Happiest Place on Earth."

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
