As summer draws to a close and the start to school creeps closer, the idea of the first day of school is something on every student's mind. What will I wear? What will it be like? Well, since the first day of school is right around the corner (just two days away for me), I thought it would be fun to combine this with some fun gifs from this years 2016 Rio Olympic games. So, here is my rendition of the first day of school in the form of gifs from the Rio games!

1. The Dreaded Wake Up

As your alarm goes off, waking you up for that first day of school, I know all you are going to want to do is it snooze and go back to bed. Trust me, I will probably do the same. But eventually you will get the energy to stand up and will most likely feel like you need a nap before your day has even begun due to the changes your sleep cycle goes through from summer to school.

2. The Warm Up

Preparations before arriving to school on that first day are essential. Whether you prepare physically like Chad Le Clos or mentally like Michael Phelps, just be ready. I know for me, the pressure is on the minute I enter school that very first day so make sure you do your warm-ups on your way to school and prepare yourself for action just like any Olympic athlete would.

3. You Got This

And if the warm ups weren't enough, a solid pep talk can always do yourself good. You got this-- you will conquer the first day of school! Just like Lori Hernandez killed the bar routine, you will kill the first day of school!

4. The Entrance

As you enter school on that first day sporting your new backpack, outfit (I wear a uniform so this sadly doesn't apply), and sneakers, you will feel like a model walking down the runway. Strut your stuff like Giselle Bündchen down that hallway to show everyone who is ready for the new school year.

5. The Reunion

As you spot your friends across the quad, that feeling of extreme excitement hits. This is the reason you are excited to be back-- spending every waking moment with your best friends in the entire world. Summer has pulled each and every one of you in a thousand different directions and the school year is your chance to spend some quality time together.

6. The School Day Itself

The rest of your day most likely consists of listening to a lot of rules, expectations from each teacher, and class requirements. But, it is also full of some surprises as well, like finding out who is in each one of your classes. Although with social media and texting you probably have a general idea, but seeing your classes that first day is the real deal.

7. The End, For Today

As the end to your first day of school draws to a close, you will feel relieved that this dreaded day has ended, but you must come back again the next day. And the day after that. OK, well at least you got through today and you did it just like an Olympic champ-- you deserves a gold medal!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
