7 Of The Most Valuable Lessons My Grandma Taught Me
Daelyn Josefak

My grandma is my best friend. She is one of the most incredible women I have ever had the privilege to know and I admire her deeply. As I was growing up, she taught me so many valuable life lessons that I always try to remember and apply in daily life. She continues to teach me these lessons every day and they have come to be some of the most important lessons I have ever learned. Here are a few of my favorites:

1. Make the most of every single second.

My grandma always reminds me to live my life to the fullest and appreciate every moment.

2. Create memories that will last a lifetime.

My grandma always tells me to take a mental picture of everything and experience amazing things that I will remember for the rest of my life. Her stories always inspire me to create memories and have stories of my own to share one day.

3. Always remind the people you love how much they mean to you.

My grandma always tells me how much she loves me every chance she gets, which inspires me to tell the people who are important to me how much I love and appreciate them.

4. Positive thoughts go a long way.

My grandma is always so positive, always finding the best in every situation. She reminds me to do the same and that everything will always work out the way it's supposed to. I have learned that it is always better to look on the bright side of things.

5. Never forget how special you are.

My grandma makes me feel like the most special person in the world every day and reminds me to never forget what it is that makes me unique and different from everyone else in the world.

6. Make sure whoever you date always treats you like a princess.

This is something my grandma stresses every time she gets the chance. She reminds me that whoever I decide to date and later spend my life with should treat me like royalty and make me feel like the best person in the world.

7. Never, EVER settle for anything less than you deserve.

My grandma reminds me of how I deserve nothing but the best and I should never settle for anything less.

These are just a few of the many things my grandma has taught me that have had a positive impact on my daily life. I love my grandma so much and I am so thankful for everything she has taught me about life.

Thank you for everything Grandma, I love you!

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
