7 First Impressions Of Professors As Told By 'The Bachelor'

Going into the new semester with a clean slate is a refreshing and motivating feeling. This will be the semester you get that 4.0 and you will do so without any breakdowns, at least that is what you tell yourself. Going into that first day of classes you have a lot of expectations and you wonder whether or not this class will be your easiest or the one that you will inevitably be pulling an all nighter for at some point to finish an assignment. A big factor into whether or not you will like a class is whether or not you like your professor. You've already done your best background checks. You have read every review on Rate My Professor and interrogated those who you know have taken the course before, but the first impression you get from a professor really does say a lot about them. Here is a list of 7 first impressions that you may get from your professors this semester and what better show to compare it to than the first impressions made on "The Bachelor"?

1. The Mean One

Forget the pleasant introductions, this professor gets the first class started with a list of the very high expectations they have for you and the consequences if they are not met. These professors usually pull the "students have failed my class before" card, which immediately tells you no matter how much eye contact you make with them during the rose ceremony lecture, they still will never go easy on your grading.

2. The Funny One

These professors usually start the class of with a joke. Whether they are actually funny or not, we appreciate their effort to make the subject they are teaching more enjoyable. I can guarantee that no matter how corny your joke is, I will give you a laugh because your jokes are much better than going over the syllabus.

3. The One Who Wants To Get To Know You

Nothing delves deeper into a person's soul than a five question survey that asks you where you are from and your favorite food. These types of professors like to hand out questionnaires in an attempt to get to know you better and may even make you have a name tag in front of your desk. While you wonder whether they will actually ever really remember that you have a love for Domino's, you appreciate their effort to make you not another name in the grade book.

4. The Attractive One

While it usually only occurs once in every blue moon, you may walk into a class and notice that your professor is very good looking. Whether it is their appearance or sparkling personality, you know you will look forward to going to this class more than you thought. As long as you keep your student-teacher relationship just that, there's no harm in having a little crush on a professor.

5. The Tough One

It's not that this professor is mean, but you know that you will have to work extremely hard to do well in their class. They will never go out of their way to overwhelm you with work, but when they assign something, they expect it to be done on time with no excuses. While you are already terrified of them, you also have a high respect for them.

6. The One You've Already Had

There is a chance that you may have one professor more than once if they teach multiple courses in your major. If you've chosen to take this professor again, this probably means that you liked them already and you wouldn't mind giving them another chance at love.

7. The Sweet One

If you could give a first impression rose to one of your professors, this one is it. They immediately make you feel comfortable and go out of their way to make you less stressed. You know that this professor will always be around for tutoring and will provide you with extra credit when you need it. You may even find yourself in their office hours just to talk about life and gain some advice.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
