Obviously everyone is super excited to go home for the holidays for many reasons. Although, for some, sitting at the dinner table is lethal when they are bombarding you with questions about your "college life".
1. “How are your grades?”
"They’re really good, probably got all A’s this semester!" (Whether or not you believe in the whole “C’s get degrees” lingo.) Honestly, this is the best answer for that question whether it’s true or not… (Sorry Mom)
2. “Do you have a boy/girlfriend?”
-This could be 1 of 3 answers
1."Yes Grandma, I am dating the same boy/girl since I left… No, I haven’t cheated on them."
2. "No Grandpa, you don’t have to tell anyone about your gun collection or how you will run them over with your car, I’m perfectly single!"
3. "No Mom, I’m not sleeping around. No, I haven’t kissed anyone recently… Well except for… but I don’t really think that counts because we were both drunk and I barely remember it."
3. “What’s your major again?”
"For probably the 18th time this semester, (including Thanksgiving break), I’m majoring in Communication. Yes, I know it’s a hard field to find a job in and no, I am not currently thinking about switching my major. But if I do, you can tell me “'I told you so.'" Congrats to you
4. “When are you supposed to graduate again?”
"You know usually, as any college student, their first graduation is supposed to be 4 years or 8 semesters after their very first day as a freshman. Will that happen because I may have slacked off in my stats class? Maybe, maybe not, but who cares let’s just live in the moment."
5. “Have you been drinking a lot/been to any good parties lately?”
"No Dad, I don’t go out every night and neglect my studies. Although, drinking every night is a different question. Parties, how about party for one? In my apartment, alone, crying about my last 3 exams that I failed but worked by butt off for."
6. “Wow, have you lost/gained weight?”
There is one simple and easy answer for this question…
7. “How are you?”
"Ya know, I’ve been stressing out a lot lately about working on all my school work and all of the extracurricular activates that I take part in, but the only thing that was keeping me sane for these past three weeks, was coming home to see all of you."
*Based on stereotypical family members, not in any way a shot at my family or anyone else’s*
