7 Country Songs That Capture Living In A Small Town

all town life is a very different lifestyle. There's nothing to do, you have to go AT LEAST an hour to go to the nearest decent shopping mall, and to most people, it seems like it sucks. However, small towners (I probably made that word up) are very proud of their hometowns. I know I am. I know there are tons of songs about small town life out there, but here are 8 country songs that perfectly capture small town life.

1. Justin Moore, "Small Town USA"

"Cause everybody knows me and I know them and I believe that's the way we were supposed to live."

This one is probably the most obvious one, but it also explains life in a small town perfectly. Everyone in my town knows each other, and when it comes down to it, everyone is willing to help in times of need.

2. Jason Michael Carroll, "Where I'm From"

"It may not sound like much, but its where I'm from"

Although we may leave our little towns, we never forget where we come from. Living in a small town teaches you things that big cities just can't. As much as we can't wait to spread our wings and leave town, it will always be where we're from, and we're gonna talk about our little towns as much as we can.

3. Carrie Underwood, "Thank God for Hometowns"

"Thank God for the county lines that welcome you back in when you were dying to get out"

When we do leave our little towns, it's reassuring to know that we have a place to go back to that welcomes you back in with open arms.

4. Alan Jackson, "Where I Come From"

"I don't know about that accent son, just where did you come from?"

The southern accent in a small town is way different than a city southern accent. Everyone from my hometown seems to have a different (probably thicker) accent than the rest of the state.

5. Miranda Lambert, "Famous in a Small Town"

"Whether you're late for church or you're stuck in jail, hey, word's gonna get around. Everybody dies famous in a small town"

There are no secrets in a small town. Most of the time people know something about you before you can even find out about it yourself. I'm pretty sure everyone knew about my first wreck in my car before I even hit the boat. (YES, I HIT A BOAT)

6. Rodney Atkins, "These Are My People"

"These are my people, this is where I come from. We're givin' this life everything we got and then some. It ain't always pretty, but it's real"

It's not easy living in a small town. It's a slower way of living, and honestly, it's not the easiest place to get stuff done. However, being in this small town has taught me a lot about patience, and it gives me a motivation to be successful (because I wanted to get out).

7. Luke Bryan, "We Rode in Trucks"

"That's us with our tailgates down in the parking lot. That's us with mud on our tires when it rained a lot"

There is little to nothing to do in our towns, so we had to improvise. Mudding was a big thing, and so were parking lot parties where we all just hung out and talked because there was nothing better to do.

So yes, I'm pretty damn proud of where I come from, and I wouldn't change it for the world. Feel free to come visit our little towns, you learn quite a lot about people, and if you find yourself in the Bootheel, you'll definitely learn a lot about MY people.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
