There is absolutely nothing better than posting up by the lake on a hot summer day and cracking open a cold beer surrounded by your favorite people. OK, that sounded like a country song lyric, or something, but I'm serious. What is summer for if not to drink by the water, or around a bonfire with your friends?
Deciding what beer to bring to the family cookout or weekend at the lake may be one of the most important decisions of the summer. With the help of my trustworthy friends, we've created a list of some damn good beers that are some of our favorites to have during the summer. My knowledge of beer is limited to 'yes this tastes good' or 'nope definitely can't finish this one' and passing it to my boyfriend to drink, so I've asked some of my more knowledge friends for information and included some little descriptions for the ones you haven't tried, yet! So grab a six-pack and head to the lake or go mooch off your friend and use their pool! Bottoms up!
1. Samuel Adams Summer Ale
This is a wheat ale that's got the perfect balance of citrus, hops, and spice. It's one of my personal favorites on a summer day!
2. Sixpoint Brewery Begali
An IPA that's crisp and light with the perfect blend of citrus and hops. Even the can looks cool, guys.
3. Shock Top Belgian White
A Belgian-style wheat ale that is brewed with orange, lemon and lime peels and coriander so it has a unique and super refreshing taste. (I'm getting thirsty just typing this one.)
4. Bells Two Hearted Ale
A midwest, American IPA that is packed with flavor but not overly hopped or bitter. American malts give it a great floral hop aroma.
5. Corona
This is one I'm sure you all know, but I had to put it on here. Corona is a summer classic and is definitely the king of all summer beers, that is for sure. Strongly suggest cutting up a lime and throwing it in there! Perfect for days on the beach.
6. Harpoon Camp Wannamango
7. Flying Bison Buffalo Kölsch 716
A German-style beer that's crisp, refreshing, and perfect for kicking back after a day in the sun.
So, here is the start to your list of beers to try this summer! Comment some of your favorites to share since, let's be real, who doesn't love trying new beer?
