First and foremost, every girl is beautiful without makeup. Plain and simple. But, to me, makeup is one of the many possible ways to express yourself and give a little extra confidence booster throughout the day! To this day, I still have questions about what good products are and how to use them. Here are some great products that everyone (yes, even beginners!) can use and so easily work into their daily makeup routine!
The most important place to start is with a good set of brushes! Good makeup brushes can do wonders for your skin and makeup application! One set that I love is the Sonia Kashuk Limited Edition brush set from Target to get you started! This set offers great face and eye brushes for powder/bronzer, foundation and concealer, eyeshadow - basically anything you can imagine needing a brush for! No matter what brushes you get, though, remember to clean them about once a month, and never forget to BLEND, BLEND, BLEND!
Once you have good brushes, foundation is the next product to find! Foundation allows you to even out your skin tone and essentially turn your face into a canvas. Recently, I've been loving the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation available in 24 great shades!! This foundation is light and won't leave your skin feeling sticky. Just like the name, it really is easy to find one that fits you!
Once you've got a good foundation down, it's time for a good blush! Blush brightens up your face, and helps define your cheekbones. My favorite is the L' Oreal Paris True Match blendable blush. The L' Oreal brand is really easy for beginners because it tells you right on the packaging if it is for cool, warm, or neutral toned skin. A really great eyeshadow that is perfect for beginners is the Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo Metal cream eyeshadow in Barely Branded or Inked in Pink. This formula makes it really easy to just dab some on your eyelid and be looking fabulous in seconds! Another perk is that it lasts throughout the whole day!
While we're on the subject of eye shadows, one of my favorite palettes is the NYX Dream Catcher Palette. It comes in three different editions that offer different shades to compliment different eye colors! The ten shades in each palette are so easy to mix and match to create different looks that range from soft and subtle to edgy and dramatic!
After you've mixed and matched eyeshadows, a good mascara frames your eyes and completes your look! There are so many great mascaras out there, but one I really love is the Lash Sensational Luscious Mascara from Maybelline. It comes in brownish black for a softer look or in the classic very black. Don't forget to curl those lashes before applying!
Lastly, and maybe most importantly, is lipstick. Anyone who knows me will testify to my lipstick obsession and my quickly growing collection (they ARE all different, I promise!) My absolute favorite lipstick collections are the Color Sensational Lip Color collection, and the Color Sensational Creamy Mattes Lipsticks, both by Maybelline. The only real difference between the collections is that one is matte and the other isn't. Both collections have great shades ranging from soft nudes to bold reds that are long lasting and won't dry your lips out! Don't be afraid to wear a bold lip! Personally, I think a bright, bold lip gives huge amounts of confidence!
