Passively scrolling through Instagram can infect you with jealousies you never even knew you had or even give you a serious case of FOMO. Especially if you're only following social acquaintances and maybe some celebrities, it can really easily turn into a place to shame-spiral about how everyone else's life is so much more glamorous and aspirational than your own. However! Instagram also carries the potential to be a relaxing and delightful oasis, a place where you can take a break from the external world and peer in on the lives of adorable creatures across the globe.
Here are some of the universally beloved pet-celebrities, as well as some of my personal favorites:
1. Snoopy
Snoopy (aka @snoopybabe) is perhaps one of the most famous feline faces on the web. An Exotic Shorthair, she's got big brown eyes and the most wonderfully smushed in snout. Her humans update the page constantly and have tons of little photo shoots with cute props and costumes.
2. Buddy and Boo
There was a time when Boo was the most "liked" puppy on all of Facebook. He's still keeping it cute, along with his brother Buddy over at @buddyboowaggytails.
3. Smoothie
I'll promise you here and now that you will never meet a single human as jaw-droppingly gorgeous as this cat. Smoothie is a British Longhair with the greenest eyes ever, you can marvel at her beauty over at @smoothiethecat.
4. Willow
Willow is a personal favorite of mine. She's got it all: the smushy Exotic Shorthair face, the silky black coat, the inspiring backstory (she was rescued from a hoarding situation.) Over at @willowthesquishycat, you'll find all manner of cute tongue-out shots and sweet videos.

5. Potato
Potato (aka @_akurah) is an elegant cat with a ridiculous name. He looks like a real life cartoon character, with bright blue eyes and permanent cat-eye liner. He's also got the kind of fur that you can just tell is chinchilla soft (and probably gets all over everything.)
6. Petunia
Petunia Tendler-Mulaney (@laviepetunia) is another personal favorite of mine, due in no small part to her owner's: comedian John Mulaney and his wife, Annemarie Tendler. Petunia is not only one of the wrinkliest French Bulldogs in the game, her posts are always accompanied by hysterical captions, often written in a faux-French accent.
7. Sumba and Burny
You didn't think I was going to only talk about kitties and puppies? No! Of course not! Sumba, a Lionhead bunny, and Burny, a Minilop, live together in Montreal. They're the fuzziest and the sweetest, and their owners like to take them out on leashes! You can check in on their adventures over on @sumbapumba .
