While certain manufacturers allow a $0 co-pay for the epinephrine injectors, it is unclear if the manufacturer of EpiPen is one of these offering the $0 co-pay. While I am a firm believer in capitalism, I do believe that healthcare items that are life saving dugs should not be marketed for profit. The poor and the impoverished with these severe allergens now must either train themselves to self-administer an injection of epinephrine, or simply go without their only life line to prevent them from dying from anaphylactic shock. It is truly an abysmal case when a cheap substance becomes a luxury to millions of people, in the United States alone, whom need this in order to comfortably live their lives without the fear of something as simple as pollen killing them on a sunny afternoon.
