You prepared as much as you could for finals. You went through all the study guides, attended tutoring sessions and struggled to wake up on time for the exams. Now it's time to stop stressing out and realize that you've earned a reprieve. When finals are over, you need to find a way to have some fun and move on from the tests.
1. Make a date with friends.
This one sounds like a no-brainer, but the truth is that many students forget to keep up with their circle of friends. Even college companions can be forgotten in the wake of preparation for finals. When your exams are finished, reach out to a friend or two and see if you can arrange a meeting with them. Some people want to have human contact after spending so much time on their final exams. See if you can set time aside for your friends.
2. See a movie.
Get out of the house! You can see new films on your own and head out with a group. If you don't want to spend hours talking or sitting in your bedroom, go to a cinema and check out something you're interested in. If you want something cozier than being in a huge room with other moviegoers, watch something on Netflix or rent something at home. Instead of worrying about your own issues, you can take part in someone else's (albeit fictional).
3. Read new books.
Oftentimes students are overloaded with reading materials from their classes. Not only that, they have to reread those books and essays for their finals. Now that you're all done with the exams and articles, try out a book you may like. Go to your local library or bookstore and see if there is a genre that interests you. Instead of reading about government and law, you can partake in a fantasy or a romance.
4. Indulge in food.
No, don't pig out or anything like that. Remember that you have to keep yourself healthy for the next semester. By indulge, I mean go out to a new café or restaurant. It doesn't have to be a big, fancy diner. It can be your favorite coffee place or bagel store. If you don't want to spend money, you can make something at home from online recipes. After all that hard work, celebrating with food sounds appropriate.
5. Go shopping for the holidays.
If you are excited for Christmas or any other upcoming holidays, go out and shop for your friends or family. Not everyone has the cash to spend, so see if you and your family can head out to a store to shop for relatives. For some people, the holidays allow for relaxation. If you'd rather check out wrapping paper and presents, arrange for a trip to the store.
6. Exercise.
This may sound odd. After all, no one seems excited about working out after shuffling to and from finals. However, exercise is a good way to de-stress and focus your mind on other things. There are different forms of exercise. You can participate in yoga lessons, go to the gym, go jogging or even try tennis lessons. Through exercise, you can forget about finals and become healthier.
