The weather is getting warmer in Buckhannon which means people actually want to start doing things other than sitting in bed under their warm covers all day. It may not be warm for long, or maybe we're finally falling into spring, but while the weather is nice we should enjoy it! Here are some ways to enjoy the sun on campus, or at least near campus!

1. Study/Hang Out Outside

Once it starts to get up into the 70's you'll see people on blankets in the grass outside of Holloway, in the oval, and around the oval all the time. The grassy areas around campus become just as reasonable study places as the library!

2. Games/Sports in the Oval

Much like you'll see people laying on blankets in the grass all the time, you'll see people playing games in the oval. Whether it be football, frisbee, or cornhole people are normally very welcoming to new people who would like to join. Or, you can get a group of friends and go out and play a game together.

3. Window Shop on Main Street

There are tons of cute shops on Main Street, from boutiques to antique shops to coffee shops, all perfect for a leisurely walk and window shopping!

4. Walk the Riverwalk

The Riverwalk is a great place to go and relax with someone and also be generally alone with someone. You might run into some other walkers or joggers, but this is an amazing place to just spend time with someone and enjoy their company under the cover of the trees.

5. Go to Audra State Park

This is perfect for almost anything from hanging out to walking to swimming! Get a group of friends together and go down to Audra with snacks, music, games, or whatever you want to do while you're there! It's super relaxing and great bonding time.

6. Hammock

If you have a hammock, find some trees on campus, hang it up, and just relax! You could ask someone to make sure no one bothers you while you nap or you could just read.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
