Does the saying, "Girls go to college to get more knowledge, boys
go to Jupiter to get more stupider,” pack more of a punch than a guy saying, “You
hit like a girl,"? Exactly. Saying someone “hits like a girl” is berating their
throw, but why does it have to be a girl? It’s a trend for girls to be overly
emotional and soft. Well, let’s go to college, ladies.
1. It is okay to be yourself
We sometimes get deterred of what’s actually fun and what everyone else thinks is fun. If you enjoy playing with Yu-Ge-O cards or binge-watching High School Musical till the sun comes up, do you, girl, as long as you’re still passing!
2. Get involved!
Even if it means a study group with 3 people, find something that won’t leave you confined in your dorm room alone all day because it will drive you crazy. Figure out what works for you, then do it!
3. You may not find love right now and that's okay.
We can all agree that college takes up at least ninety percent of our time. With the professors and school work, there’s a lot on your plate other than boys. Most importantly, it is not a matchmaking service that has a one hundred percent chance guaranteed or your money back. There will be a moment where you find love and it’s okay if it’s not now.
4. Even if he breaks your heart, that's still okay.
Reverting back to number two, college isn’t a dating resort. If a jerk ends up breaking your heart, he may have watched too much American Pie and didn’t realize you were much better than that. Don’t let him bring you down. Instead, convert the time spent with him into studying. Can we say, “4.0 GPA,”?
5. There will be mean girls.
You may end up with one or two girls who snarl and make manner less comments about anything pertaining to you as if they are perfect. It’s in their blood. As long as you know that your shirt isn’t on backwards and you don’t have lipstick in your teeth, strut to class and forget about the fact that they are going to have way more wrinkles than you due to that constant crinkled, mugged face.
6. Lastly, just chill.
I wore the same snap cap for a whole week because I was too tired to brush my hair. Even for just a day where you only have one class and then studying or reruns of Grey's Anatomy, you basically live at the same place you go to school. Be comfortable. Sleep in the library, better yet, buy a hammock and enjoy relaxation outside of your dorm. We all understand.
