Every student has those days where her classes get out early, and she has no idea what to do. You can only spend so much time studying or reading your text book for class, so here are some fun things to do around our campus.
1. People watch.
There are a multitude of great places to people watch on Georgia Southern’s campus. Sit by the lake and you can watch people and ducks pass by. Head over to Club Hendy and count how many students you see sleeping rather than studying, or just sit in the Union and watch students pass through.
2. Make use of Sweetheart Circle.
Sweetheart Circle isn’t useful only to students with pups or enos; it can be useful for those who just enjoy the outdoors. Take a frisbee or a football out and toss it around, have an impromptu photo shoot, or just sit and relax.
3. Check out the museum.
Students tend to forget that the campus museum is free to students, and it’s a good way to pass the time. Who knows? You might even learn something along the way, and if you don’t, then at least you got out of your room for a bit, right?
4. Go to the Wildlife Center.
All too many students tell me that they didn’t even know that we had a Wildlife Center on Campus. We do. It’s pretty close to the IT building, actually. Go on over and play with the turtles up front or walk the outdoor section and gander upon some animals. You can even catch a Birds of Prey presentation, and if you’re lucky, you might be able to pet one of the snakes, too.
5. Window shop at the University Store or the Tech Shop.
I understand that we’re all broke college kids, but we can still look at what our campus shopping has to offer. You never know; you might find a good gift for mom, or maybe you just need a new pair of headphones and a snack.
6. Get Creative.
Grab a friend and find something to do. It doesn’t matter if you make a hopscotch board by the rotunda or if you make up a scavenger hunt of things to find on campus. It’s almost certain that you’ll find something fun to do with a friend. Who knows? You might end up playing checkers with some Jelly Bellies on one of the checkered tables inside Starbucks.
