11 Things You Can Do If You're Heading Home For Spring Break

It might not sound exciting, but it is all about what you make of it.

It's that time of the semester again — we're just days away from Spring Break! Some are frantically planning spur-the-moment getaways with close friends, some are heading to exotic places with their families, and some are getting ready to volunteer on an Alternative Break program.

Then there are those of us who don't have any super exciting plans this other than heading back home and using the break as a nice mid-semester rest and recovery, where even if you don't have class, you're expected do work for them. Here are some tips if you're worried about having literally nothing to do.

1. Binge watch an entire Netflix series.

Because this does not require anything but staying in your pajamas all day and not leaving your house.

2. Plan a day trip (or two) and bring along a hometown friend, or even your mother/sister.

Maybe your spring break lines up with your BFF who goes to a different school and maybe he/she's plan-less as well. Discover random, local places that you've never appreciated but are only like, five minutes away.

3. Read a book that you've been putting off until you "don't have to worry about hours of homework every day."

There are so many great books that I've wanted to read, but they collect dust in my room because I "don't have time." This is the time.

4. Catch up on (or at least contemplate it) readings/assignments that you've put on the back-burner until last minute.

The worst part about spring break is that you have to return to school right after. Getting ahead might save you from a couple of all-nighters later, but then again, sleeping all day sounds more enticing right now.

5. Sleep. All day. All night.

You'll be happy you did once you get back to school and realize absolutely nothing can get done and no classes can be passed if you do this when school is in session.

6. Move your body.

It's always a good idea to jumpstart your day with some exercise! Get out into the sunshine and get that blood flowing.

7. Engage in an (actual) spring cleaning.

It's finally spring which means you probably have to swap those cozy winter clothes for slightly more revealing ones so you're not sweating every time you go outside.

8. Pamper yourself.

You've been working so hard since the beginning of the semester and you made it through midterms. You deserve more than just a pat on the back, so book an appointment at your local spa and relax while everything is done for you!

9. Find a way to make some money.

Break is too short to snatch a full-time job, but maybe you can head into work with one of your parents for a few days, or see if you can take a few shifts at your old summer job.

10. Live vicariously through your friend's tropical pictures, if you can handle the FOMO.

It's hard to watch all of your friends but you living it up in Cabo. Pretend you're there with them and throw on your bikini and make some margz.

11. Relax and enjoy this quality time hanging out with your family!

Because nothing screams "SPRAANG BREAAK!" more than delicious home-cooked meals and the people you've missed so much but will probably never admit to it.

However you spend break, enjoy these few days off. Give yourself some TLC and some time to unwind — it goes by faster than you think. Happy halfway mark!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
