Six Songs That Always Get Me Through A Rough Day

Music is a universal language that can cover any emotion one might be feeling. The list I have complied are lyrics that have helped me through the rougher moments in my life and I hope they can with you too.

1. Song: "Missing You" Artist: All Time Low

One of my favorite songs off their 2015 Future Hearts album, "Missing You" is an upbeat tune that tells the listener to never give up, no matter how tough the road becomes.

"Now don't lose your fight, kid. It only takes a little push to pull on through."

2. Song: "Hurricane" Artist: Halsey

Collaborating with artist like Justin Bieber and selling out Madison Square Garden, electro-pop artist Halsey, is taking over the music world by storm. "Hurricane" empowers everyone with its haunting and true lyrics.

"Don't belong to no city. Don't belong to no man."

3. Song: "Eye of the Tiger" Artist: Survivor

Becoming a hit single after its appearance in "Rocky III," "Eye of the Tiger" by American rock band, Survivor is a classic motivational song. Its guitar riffs, lyrics and steady drumming pattern make this song the perfect uplifting tune.

"Risin' up to the challenge of our rival/ And the last known survivor
Stalks his prey in the night."

4. Song: "Keep Holding On" Artist: Avril Lavigne

Punk-rock princess, Avril Lavigne, was super significant in my 2007 punk phase. "Keep Holding On" reminded me that I was never alone and I always had someone there for me.

"Keep holding on, 'cause you know we'll make it through/ Just stay strong/' cause you know I'm here for you."

5. Song: "Weightless" Artist: All Time Low

Another one of my favorites, "Weightless" is from their 2009 album, "Nothing Personal." This was definitely the anthem of my adolescent teenage years.

"Maybe it's not my weekend but it's gonna be my year."

6. Song: "Unwritten" Artist: Natasha Beddingfield

I graduated to this song back in the fifth grade. Wow, how time flies. Still "Unwritten" is a timeless song that promises the good things in life have still yet to be written.

"I'm just beginning, the pen's in my hand, ending unplanned."

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
