Kings, soldiers, townsfolk, lords and ladies alike have met their untimely ends due to the deadly "Game of Thrones." Throughout the past six seasons of the hit HBO television series it has become quite apparent that, like their dear friend Death, the show’s writers and creator, George RR Martin, spare no one. And, while the vast majority of the death sentences handed out on the show are untimely and tragic, there are a few that honestly couldn’t happen fast enough. So in honor of the season six finale, here is a definitive ranking of the six most satisfying deaths in "Game of Thrones" history.
Caution: Spoilers ahead.
6. Viserys Targaryen
One of the finest cases of “be careful of what you wish for,” ever seen. The arrogant, misogynistic and just plain creepy wannabe royal had been fantasizing about his “crown of gold” from the first moment he is introduced, you know seconds before he literally sold his sister for a Dothraki army. I think it’s safe to say that although he may not have been satisfied when Khal Drogo finally gave him his crown, the rest of us were.
5. Waif
Although we weren’t granted the gratification of watching Arya remove “a girl’s” face after Waif spent the better part of the season torturing the young Stark, it was satisfying enough to see her donation to the Many Faced God.
4. Stannis Baratheon
After you send a literal demon child to kill your younger brother and burn your only daughter alive for the sake of the Iron Throne, karma tends to catch up with you.
3. Olly
Now, I’m not usually one to root for the death of a child but I can’t deny the amount of glee that passed through my heart as I watched the newly resurrected Lord Commander Of the Night’s Watch, Jon Snow, hang the boy who he once cared for but turned against and murdered Jon at the end of season five.
2. King Joffery Baratheon
It took four seasons of the inbreed bastard son of Jaimie and Cersei Lannister torturing, killing and being the cruel little creature that he was before he got what was coming to him and, oh, how it was beautiful. The only thing that would have made his death better would have been if it were just a tad more gruesome but beggars can’t be choosers.
1. Lord Ramsay Bolton
Although watching the sociopath beaten within an inch of his life and be fed to his own hounds was overwhelmingly satisfying (not to mention the Stark banners once again being hung in Winterfell), a small part of me will miss the little sadist.
What deaths satisfied you the most?
