As we all know, Finals Week can induce nervous breakdowns, psychotic breaks, and long, tearful nights. But it seems like all of us forget that we are all successful students, because we made it to the end of the semester without failing--and that in itself is a feat. So, we should not put ourselves through that type of stress because we are going to ace our finals.
The following list is a few reminders for all of us to remember as we go into this upcoming finals week. I always think to myself before I take any test "Let Go and Let God"; so let's all remember that quote and ace those finals with these helpful reminders.
1.Get Some Sleep
The main reason we all go crazy during finals is because we do not sleep for days. I know this is so hard to remember during this time because some of those finals are comprehensive and it requires 24+ hours of studying. I promise you will feel a lot better about life if you all catch some sleep.
2. EAT!
I am a repeat offender of this crime. When I am in the study zone and stressed, I might go hours or even a couple of days without getting a good meal--please do not follow my lead. Always take a break between studying and eat a good meal! I promise you will feel better and your grades will reflect that.
3. Take a Break
Always take a break from studying. Studying for long hours and not breaking between is seriously bad for your long-term memory, which is the memory used for recalling information. It doesn't matter if you go to the bar and party on Dead Day Eve or watch Netflix all day on the day of Dead Day, your brain will thank you for the distraction.
4. Feeling Stressed? Work out
The best way to instantly relieve stress is to exercise. I work out every morning, but, during Finals Week, I might increase my work outs up to twice a day. Working out makes me forget about my anxieties and gives me the energy to study for my finals.
5. Talk to Your Professors
Sometimes getting confirmation from your professors that your GPA is not horrible feels great. It might seem like you are bothering them, but at least you and your professor are on the same page.
6. BREATHE
Stop holding your breath! Before you attempt anything during this week, count to 10 and let out that breath. You will feel 1000 times better and you will think with a clearer mind.
Don't let those professors scare you into thinking that your life is over if Finals Week does not go as planned. You have done outstanding all semester and you will ace those finals.
