We’ve all visited family, and whether it be in a different state or just down the road it’s always a good time. Most families have that one comedic family member who might be a little crazy but entertains everyone. There’s the family member that you enjoy hanging out with the most and the one who drives you crazy but you like them anyways. Here are six reasons why visiting family is fun!

1. Good Food

If your family is anything like mine, then they make the best food when everyone is together. My favorite parts about being with everyone at holidays or any special occasion is my grandmas burritos and my other grandmas mashed potatoes. There is nothing better than those two food items on special occasions. I'm sure that you have a favorite food item that your grandma or mom makes and you know exactly what I’m talking about.

2. That One Weird Family Member

Everyone’s family has an odd person in it, in my family it’s my aunt's dad. He's from rural Idaho and he likes to joke around a lot. He really enjoys making fun of everyone in the family (in a non-mean way). He is weird, but he gave me a cool cowboy hat so everything is good. Family members like my aunt's dad are the most entertaining and they keep everyone smiling throughout the time we are together.

3. Hang Time

Simply hanging out with family that you don’t see all the time is great. You get a chance to catch up with everyone and figure out what they're doing with their lives. You also get to laugh and just be weird because they don’t judge you for your weirdness. Also being a little odd with people who don’t care is fun, and it makes you laugh.

4. Traveling

Yes, traveling might be a hassle and getting up early is a pain but going to the airport and hopping on a plane or driving is fun. You get to sleep and listen to music and get free soda on the airplane. It does seem like a hassle but it’s still all apart of the adventure and it’s still fun.

5. Adventuring

This is one of my favorite parts of traveling-going on adventures with family is an experience. You get to go to new places and see new things and experience new stuff with family. If you’re bored while at your family's house, go on a walk or go play hide 'n go seek, it doesn't have to be an intense adventure; just something fun.

6. The Memories

The memories are the best-when you’re with your family sitting around and you just start remembering things that you've done together. You also make new memories and get to experience new things with the people you like the most. Just a few examples: one time we were all going somewhere and my aunt left my cousin at home as we all went shopping, or the one time my cousin walked into a glass door. It’s the goofy things like that that get remembered even when they happened five or so years ago.

Next time you’re with your family have a good time and enjoy it. In the words of the band Switchfoot, “Life is short, you gotta live it well.”

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
