6 Reasons To Be Excited About Moving Back To School

In about a month, many students will be returning to their colleges for the start of a new school year. As summer slowly comes to a close, excitement builds up. The process of planning, buying new things and eventually packing up everything to make the trip to school is slowly approaching all of us. Now, although these may not be the most fun things to do, moving back to school makes it bearable. Going back to school means being surrounded by friends you haven’t been able to see for months, freedom and much more. Here are some things we can look forward to when moving back to school.

1. College food

I don’t know why the first thing that came to my mind is the food, but oh well. Living on or near a college campus means living close to tons of restaurants and food options that offer cheap deals that appeal to college students. I’m more than excited to go back to eating midnight pizza, ordering Chinese take out and enjoying half-priced sushi whenever I want it. Also, many restaurants or food places offer deals during finals week or other special occasions where you can get free food like free frozen yogurt and pizza sticks.

2. Seeing friends you haven’t been able to see all summer

Moving back to school means moving back with all the people you met at school and love. You will be able to see everyone, catch up and pick up right where you left off. You’ll be living in walking distance from most of your friends, and that is always more than convenient. If you need to borrow a top from your friend or are meeting to go somewhere together, it’s usually only a short walk away. Living so close is always nice after spending the whole summer without seeing your friends.

3. Happy hour specials

College campuses always have the best specials on drinks at the bar every single night. It’s always a deal when you’re able to get a whole liquor pitcher for $5 on a Wednesday or enjoy "beat the clock" on a Saturday afternoon while only spending a few dollars on your very low, college budget.

4. Freedom from your parents

When you move back to school, you no longer have people always telling you what to do. You have freedom. Of course, freedom comes with responsibility, but it is worth it.

5. Having roommates

After living with roommates for an entire year, it’s hard to live without someone. You get used to having someone constantly around in your company to share things with, talk to, stay up with or, my favorite, someone to go get food with. I can’t decide if I’m more excited to see my roommates or what new pieces they are adding to their closets.

6. Feeling at home

After living at school and falling in love with your college and everything about it, moving back home for the summer is difficult. You miss everything about your school, the people you met there and your new life. When you move back, you feel at home and ready to begin another school year at the place you love.

So, as our countdown to move in day slowly dwindles down, have fun getting ready and enjoying your last few weeks at home. I’m more than excited to move back to school and cannot wait to see what the next year brings.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
