1. Crisp air and the leaves changing colors
Walking to a lecture across campus accompanied by a refreshingly cool breeze, picteresque red and yellow trees, and crunchy leaves underfoot makes life way more enjoyable. It's also the perfect atmosphere for almost any outdoor activity–a day-trip into downtown, apple-picking, going for a run, carving pumpkins, and so much more.
2. 13 Nights of Halloween on ABC Family
No matter how scary (or un-scary) the movies are, the 13 Nights of Halloween marathon is something to look forward to in October for people of any age. Whether it be childhood classics like "Hocus Pocus" and "The Addams Family", or new animation like "Frankenweenie", the movie marathon gets us excited for the best day of the year, Halloween.
3. Pumpkin-spiced everything
We all know about pumpkin spiced lattes at Starbucks, but there's way more pumpkin-spiced hidden gems out there. Pumpkin-spiced bagels, hummus, cereal, cream cheese, vodka, and more are avaliable at many grocery stores during October. For people who aren't super keen on pumpkin-spiced foods, there are also hundreds of other specially-flavored foods to get you in the fall spirit, like Caramel Apple Greek Yogurt by Yoplait and Mulled Apple Cider Sortbet by Ciao Bella.
4. New episodes of our favorite TV shows
Because we all need another way to procrastinate, right? By mid-October, almost all popular television shows will be back on air. Plus, new television shows to obsess about will be launching throughout the month as well.
5. Cozy clothing
No longer do you need to worry about sweating through your clothes, and you don't need to pull out the giant parka just yet. October is the perfect month for fuzzy sweaters, warm vests, and long scarves. It's one of the only months of the year where you can dress cute without ever worrying about feeling uncomfortable outside.
6. Halloween
The best month of the year leads us up to the best day of the year -- Halloween. Parties and bar nights are way more fun when everyone is in costume, and it's especially awesome when Halloween falls on a weekend. Candy, costumes, scary movies, pumpkin carving -- what could be better?
