6 Reasons I'm A Daddy's Girl

A good dad wants to catch you before you fall, but instead picks you off, brushes you off, and lets you try again.

My dad is one of the most important people in my life. He has been my best friend from day one and I'm so grateful for that.

1. He let me help him, even though I wasn't exactly helpful

I remember when we built an addition on our house he practically did it by himself, but he let me paint a wall which i thought was very exciting and i was proud of my work. I recently realized that i painted the wall behind the fridge... but at least i learned how to paint and got to spend time with my dad.

2. He teaches me about cars

Me and my dad have always bonded over cars. i even got to go with him when he got his corvettes and mustang. I helped pick a few of them out too. It's nice to know about cars, not only because one day I'm going to have to buy one of my own, but its also a good conversation starter.

3. He's protective over me

He isn't one of those crazy dads who threatens my boyfriend or something like that, but he is protective over me. I can tell he only wants the best for me and would speak up if he didn't think i was receiving the best.

4. He teaches me how to fix things instead of just doing it for me

He wants me to be able to fix and do things on my own. He always shows me how he's doing something when he's doing it. Although i rarely remember what he did and have to ask again he will just smile and say yeah let me show you again. He knows it takes seeing it more than once to learn and he's incredibly patient.

5. He's been there for every important day in my life

My dad would never even think about missing a big day in my life, he wants to be part of it all even though he may complain through it all. He's been at every sporting event, graduation, and so much more. Im so thankful he takes time out of his busy day to go to something he'd probably rather not be at, but knows its important to me so goes anyways

6. He works harder than anyone else I know

He's constantly working over time, waking up at 4am. He's sore and exhausted at the end of the day, but doesn't complain once. He happily heads off to work every morning and sometimes even cooks dinner when he gets home. He is one incredible man.

"A "daddys little girl" is the one who would rather get her hands covered in engine oil with dad, than stay in the house and bake buns with her mother!" and forever a daddy's girl i will be. Happy father's Day!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
