We all go through ups and downs in our lives. Some of the down times are harder than others. I've certainly been through quite a few, myself. But whenever I am having an off day, an off week, or an off month, I look at these quotes to remind myself that the bad times will not prevail, and that good can come out of any bad situation. Here are 6 quotes to live by when you're feeling down, that may help you lift your spirits and focus on making the best of your situation.

1. For when you feel like no one is on your side:

"A Successful man is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at him." --David Brinkley

Sometimes it may seem like you can't do anything right and that everyone is out to get you. But what makes you, YOU, is how you deal with that criticism and build yourself up on it. Take all the criticism and mold it in a way that makes you a better, stronger person so you can prove peoples' opinions about you are wrong.

2. For when you feel like you're meant for something more:

"Hardships often prepare ordinary people for an extraordinary destiny." --C.S. Lewis

This one is similar to the previous quote but has just as much merit all the same. Use hardships to prepare for the future to be a stronger person and you will find something better. Anytime life seems to knock you down, you know that you will find a way to get back up and conquer it.

3. For when you realize who you need in your life and who you don't:

"Let go of those who bring you down and surround yourself with those who bring out the best in you." --Unknown

Sometimes you realize that some of the people who are in your life, don't deserve to be there because they don't help you be your best self. They may even drag you down and feel worse about yourself. It is 100% okay to cut those people out of your life because you are enough. you are worth it. and you deserve better.

4. For when you feel like you're stuck:

"Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it." --Michael Jordan

Sometimes you come to find yourself in a rut. You don't know how to fix it but you know something needs to change. So you persevere, and you figure it out and you do what you need to do to be happy and carve your own paths instead of falling into a cycle and staying stuck, or giving up.

5. For when you don't understand why:

"Every adversity, every failure and every heartache carries with it the seed of an equivalent or a greater benefit." --Napoleon Hill

It's those moments when we feel like we are being tested. We don't understand why we have to go through whatever hardship we are facing but we have to think about the good that can come out of it. And then we have to take that good and we have to run with it.

6. For when you need to be reminded that something better really is coming:

"The pain you have been feeling, will not compare to the joy that awaits you." --Romans 8:18

I think this one speaks for itself. Wait for what's around the corner. Someone cares; something better is on the horizon. Aim for that horizon, and just go.

When something bad happens in our lives, it is so easy to resonate with it and feel like the world is ending, but I promise you, it's not. You can and you will get through whatever it is. Life has a wonderful way of working out in the end, even if it does take some time. Look for the silver lining in the clouds.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
