Many people say that eyes are the windows to the soul, but in reality, books should be considered the window to a person's soul. For me, it's easier to connect to a person who reads the same books that I do; if I see someone who is reading what I read, then I know that I can connect with them on a certain level. Below are just a couple of my favorite authors, as well as their books.
6. Cassandra Clare
Cassandra Clare is the author of many books, but perhaps most commonly known is the "Mortal Instruments" series. These books follow Clary Fray as she navigates the world of Shadowhunters that her mother hid from her since birth.
Her books include:
"The Mortal Instruments:" "City of Bones," "City of Ashes," "City of Glass," "City of Fallen Angels," "City of Lost Souls," "City of Heavenly Fire"
"The Infernal Devices:" "Clockwork Prince," "Clockwork Angel," "Clockwork Princess"
"The Bane Chronicles"
"Last Hours:" "Lady Midnight"
"Magisterium:" "The Iron Trail," "The Copper Gauntlet"
5. Katie McGarry
Katie McGarry is a largely unknown author, but one I greatly enjoy reading. Her books are about two people finding that love isn't the only thing to gain from each other.
Her list of books includes:
"Pushing the Limits:" "Pushing the Limits," "Dare You To," "Crash Into You," "Take Me On" and "Chasing Impossible"
"Thunder Road:" "Nowhere But Here," "Walk the Edge," "Long Way Home"
4. P.C and Kristin Cast
P.C and Kristin Cast are a mother and daughter team who coauthored the "House of Night" series. This series follows Zoey Redbird as she is thrust into the Vampire World, only to learn that she is destined to save it.
"House of Night:" "Marked," "Betrayed," "Untamed," "Chosen," "Hunted," "Tempted," "Burned," "Awakened," "Destined," "Hidden," "Reveled," "Redeemed"
Both authors have also written independent books.
3. Laurie Halse Anderson
One Laurie Halse Anderson's most commonly read books is "Speak," which follows a young girl trying to cope with her rape. Although "Speak" is a great book, one of my favorite books by the same author is "Fever 1793," which follows a young girl in the middle of the Yellow Fever epidemic of 1793.
Some of her other books include "Wintergirls" and "Twisted."
2. Alyson Noel
Alyson Noel is perhaps one of my favorite authors. Although I have only read a couple of her series of books, "The Immortals" and "Riley Bloom," I have fallen in love with her books. "The Immortals" follows Ever Bloom as she comes to term with losing her entire family. Soon, she finds out that she should have died with them, but someone brought her back to life. "The Immortals" series is a modern retelling of the Fountain of Youth legend, but instead of only one sip from the fountain, they need to continue to drink the elixir.
Her books include:
"The Immortals:" "Evermore," "Blue Moon," "Shadowland," "Dark Flame," "Night Star," "Everlasting."
"Riley Bloom:" "Radiance," "Shimmer," "Dreamland," "Whisper"
"Soul Seekers:" "Fated," "Echo," "Mystic," "Horizon"
"Laguna Cove" and "Cruel Summer"
"Unrivaled"
1. Maggie Stiefvater
Maggie Stiefvater is someone you have probably never heard of right? Well you should know who she is. One of my favorite series of books that she has written is the Wolves of Mercy Falls. The Wolves of Mercy Falls follow Grace as she discovers the hidden world of Werewolves that live in the woods behind her house. Only these are your normal werewolves in fact they are more they shapeshifters and only allowed to shift during certain times.
"The Wolves of Mercy Falls:" "Shiver," "Linger," "Forever," "Sinner"
"The Raven Cycle:" "The Raven Boys," "The Dream Thieves," "Blue Lily," "Lily Blue," "The Raven King"
"The Books of Faeire:" "Lament," "Ballad"
