The Kardashian-Jenner clan are loved and hated by many. Their lifestyles are always subject to criticism, and whether you aspire to be them or can't stand their existence, you must admit that the Kardashians have gifted us with some unforgettable life lessons.
1. Always Keep Things in Perspective
No matter how devastating the loss of an earring may be, it's important to remember that is it not the end of the world. Whenever you find yourself stressing over a bad hair day, just keep in mind that you have overcome worse and this too shall pass.
2. Learn How to Make Light of Any Situation
Sure, life can get tough. There comes a time when you just want to throw all your goals and ambitions out the window to become a GoGo dancer. During those difficult moments, it is imperative that you muster up the strength and courage to not google clubs in your area that are hiring. Instead, find a way to make light of the situation, whether that means eating a whole pizza, treating yourself to some new clothes or taking a couple of selfies to boost your self-esteem. Having the ability to not take things too seriously will clear your mind and eventually help you find better solutions to life's dilemmas that don't involve working long nights at a dim lit "bar."
3. Don't let others undermine you
Whether you're switching majors, starting a new job, or beginning a new exercise regime, there will always be people doubting your ability. For young people, our age is often brought into question when an individual is determining our aptitude. For all those naysayers, keep in mind that just because I wasn't alive to see the tearing down of the Berlin Wall, does not mean that I am incompetent. So what if my childhood memories are drowned in Lizzie McGuire reruns and a strong desire for a Motorola Razor phone? This should not take points off from my relatively impressive resumé. In short, age ain't nothing but a number.
4. Treat your bladder well
It's hard to imagine being so occupied with life that you forget to use the restroom, but hey, it happens. Even though the hustle and bustle of our day to day lives may require us to constantly be on the go, we must not push our bladders to their limit. At the end of the day, self-care is important and stopping for a quick bathroom break can go a long way. Your daily tasks become more comfortable and the sight of running water will not make you cringe.
5. Take things one step at a time
Scrolling down your Instagram feed or Facebook timeline and seeing all the amazing things your friends are doing can really make your personal accomplishments seem sub-par. As you see your friends succeeding in their high paying jobs, moving out of their parent's house and getting engaged, it's important to not panic. You must resist the urge to go into maximum overdrive to try and compete with other people's seemingly perfect lives. So what if you're still unsure of what career path you want to pursue, or if you're not fully independent yet, and who cares if the last successful date you went on was over a year ago. Your life won't fall into place overnight and obsessing over it won't make things any easier.
6. Family First
The Kardashians constantly emphasize the importance of family. While their lifestyle may be anything but ordinary, their family dynamic is, in many ways, very relatable. They may bicker and fight, but at the end of the day, they have each other's back. They're always ready to engage in a good Twitter war with anyone who messes with their clan and will call out those who attempt to tear down one of their own (*cough cough* Taylor Swift). Support is a crucial component of the Kardashian dynamic because success is always better when you have your family to celebrate with.
