Let's be real, nobody wants to actually put in the physical work to get fit and live a healthy lifestyle. But, lucky for you, I'm going to share with you simple, healthy tips to acquire that will help you lead a healthier life!

1. Drink two liters of water a day.

I know this is an obvious health tip, but drinking two liters of water is enough to flush toxins out of your body and balance your ratio of muscle to fat, etc. A life hack I have for this is to replace your small water bottles with one L bottles. It's a mental game, you'll be more inclined to drink one bottle rather than two. So by swapping to bigger bottles, you'll think you're drinking the same amount but its actually more!

2. Drop the scale.

Weighing yourself is in no way beneficial when you're trying to get started with your fitness journey. I believe the number on the scale is not important, what is is how you feel on the inside about your physical appearance. I used to weigh myself on the daily basis and would run until my lungs gave out if I was two pounds over. Drop the scale, and focus on the health gains, not the weight loss.

3. Try not to eat after 8 pm.

Eating heavy meals or snacks late at night is not healthy. It just sits in your body where it's unable to be broken down since your body then goes to rest shortly after. Try to focus on drinking more water instead of snacking at night.

4. Read motivational/life advice books.

This was surprisingly super life-changing for me. I began reading books that elevated my mindset and challenged me to look deeper within myself to pick out points that I needed to improve or work on. Allowing your mind to rest and escape from the world for 30 minutes a day goes a long way. If you're like me, and you love to question life and what our purpose is on this world, I suggest reading books like "The Life You Were Born To Live" and "No Ordinary Moments" by Dan Millman.

5. View your fitness journey in a positive way.

When you decide you want to change your lifestyle it's very daunting and you're more inclined to quit than stick with it. Working out and eating healthy seems to have a bad reputation. Instead of viewing this as a weight loss, or something you don't genuinely want to do, view it has a health gain and as something that you want to work at each day to live the life you dream of. You're going to fail, want to give up and blame yourself for not being fit enough, but this is normal. Even the fittest people on earth have bad days. Turn them into good days.

6. Cut the negative energy out of your life.

CLEAN UP YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA. Only follow those who inspire you to be the best version of yourself. It's human nature to compare yourself to someone else, and living in a society where your social status is based on how good you look on social media, its crucial to surround yourself with positivity. Don't hold yourself to unrealistic standards, like girls with fake body parts. Instead, look up to those who preach being comfortable in your own skin. You are uniquely you. Stop wanting to be someone else. Stop letting other people bring you down, and stop letting your mind bring you down.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
