6 Musts At The San Diego County Fair

6 Musts At The San Diego County Fair

1. Eat... A lot

Let's not lie to ourselves, most of us go to the fair for "fair food". San Diego has amazing vendors that will be sure to satisfy any craving. From fried Oreos, funnel cakes, turkey legs to a traditional corn dog we're probably all going to splurge on fatty foods.

2. Watch the Swifty Swine Racing Pigs

These cute racing pigs are a fair favorite. The race takes place during several times during each day at the Durante Arena. Each cute little pig will race each other for the Oreo treat the winner gets at the end of the finish line. As an audience member, you get to root for which pig you think will win!

3. Rides and Games

With a kid zone and a fun zone, there are several rides and games for everyone to enjoy! I definitely recumbent riding the Ferris wheel at night to see the whole fair lit up from up top. For those who want more of a thrill, the Del Mar Fair offers bungee jumping and a slingshot ride!

4. Meet some furry friends

There are animals all over the fair! There are petting farms and livestock shows. There are sheep, cows, goats, cattle and pigs. Be sure to stop by and walk through to say hello.

5. Participate in a contest

There are contests for baby's, kids and adults! The fair features contests including bubble gum blowing, hula hooping, pie eating, ballroom dancing and more! Pie contests are held daily while other contests require you to enter before a certain date. If you happen to win a contest you could get a trophy, ribbon or some cash!

6. Go during a special event

Each day there is a different event going on. For example, there are several festivals including beer, wine and cocktails. There are also concerts features artists of all different genres!
