I don't know about you, but I am undoubtedly an artistic person! Glitter is my favorite color, and no craft project is too ambitious for me. I'm constantly looking at decorations in stores and thinking "I could do that!" My crafting hobby (obsession) only increased when I decided to go all out in decorating my dorm room this year! Here are some cute DIY projects that you will definitely see in my dorm room come fall!

1. Honeycomb Shelves

These professional-looking shelves are actually made with three mundane items: tacky glue, popsicle sticks, and wood stain! You could even paint them if you prefer more of a vibrant look. They're super lightweight, but strong, so they'll be able to support all of your favorite knick knacks.

2. Paint Sample Banner

This tutorial is specifically for a Valentine's day theme, but it could be adapted to fit the color scheme of any room! When you consider all of the different colors and shapes you could use, the possibilities are endless.

3. The Perfect Pencil Holder

It's no secret that mason jars are having a moment in the crafting world. This is a an easy and cheap craft that is endlessly useful! Mason jars not only look rustically cute, but they can also help organize your pencils, pens, makeup brushes, you name it!

4. Hanging Jewelry Organizer

This is my personal favorite when it comes to decoration ideas! It's a really unique and versatile idea that will keep my necklaces from becoming a tangled glob and chains in my jewelry box. If you aren't much of a jewelry person, you could replace the knobs with hooks and use them for your keys!

5. Old Picture Frame Makeover

You wouldn't believe how easy it is to get your hands on an old picture frame! If you don't have any at home, you can always hit up yard sales or thrift stores for your perfect frame. This is a nice way to bring a personal touch to any room.

6. Monogrammed String Art

This is a little more intense project for extreme crafters! It might be tedious and a little difficult, but the results are beautiful and unique. You could use your initials or any other shape you chose!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
