6 Things to Thank my Boyfriend For
Charlsley Carey

Dear You,

Hey there, handsome. Chances are as you are reading this, I'm probably texting you about how hungry I am or obsessing over something cute I found on Etsy or Amazon on something. But, I had to write this to you because there is just something I needed to know... do you realize how special you are? Just how big of an impact you have had on my life? If the answer is no, don't worry - I'm about to take you step-by-step on just how much you have affected my life. Chances are, majority of these things I've already told you, texted you, or written down in one of the many handwritten notes I've made for you. But, there is nothing wrong with telling you again. I owe you a big thank you for so many things.

1. For Showing Me What Real Love Is

Everyone I dated before you doesn't even compare to you. They were all childish little boys who didn't know how to treat a woman. They didn't make me feel special, they didn't make me feel wanted, they didn't make me feel whole. But you... you do that and so much more. You truly have shown me what real love should look like and how it should feel, and for that I am eternally grateful.

2. For Proving Relationships Can Be Fun

Before you came into my life, I always thought relationships were a serious thing. And I mean... they definitely are, but they aren't worth it if you can't laugh with your partner. I laugh with you more than I laugh with anyone else. More than with my family or my friends (sorry y'all, he's a funny dude...), you make me laugh until my cheeks and my belly hurt - which is the best kind of relationship.

3. For Always Making Me Feel Like I Fit In

Whether with your friends or your family, or anyone else, you have always made me feel like I am a part and that I belong - a character trait a lot of people don't have.

4. For Making Memories With It

My memories with you, both good and bad, will always be treasured - as well as the ones that are to come. I mean hey, with us planning to spend our entire lives together, we have plenty of other memories to make together, and I cannot wait to live them.

5. For Dealing With My Many Emotions

Hunger, annoyance, anger, sadness, jealousy, arrogance, boredom, and so many other mood swings you have had to put up with through the years... I don't know how you've done it, but you have.

6. For Teaching Me Patience

You know I am one of the most impatient people on the planet. I can't wait for things to ship when you buy them online, for food at restaurants, for TV shows to come on, for movies to come out, ect. But, you have taught me how to be patient. Especially when you kept me in the friendzone for a year after we met, I have definitely learned some patience thanks to you.

Thank you for being you and thank you for loving me. I promise I will always love you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
