College is one of the best times of your life, but it is also one of the hardest. You get to discover who you are and who your friends are. You get to go on adventures and make so many memories, but it also comes with struggles. Here are six bible verses to help get you through the school year.
“God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.” Psalm 46:5
You will face many trying and stressful times this year, but don’t let it break you. Remember who holds you and protects you. You will not fall if you reach out to your Heavenly Father. Take each day as they come, one by one. The sun comes in the morning and a new day begins. Every day, look for the blessings and miracles God is working around you and through you. Don’t let something as small as a bad grade blind you from the beautiful things God has placed before you.
“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.” Psalm 23:1
As humans, we are constantly fighting a battle of insecurity and feeling inadequate. We look around us and see other people seemingly living the lives that we want to be living. We set high standards for ourselves based on society around us that we can’t reach, and when we fall short, we feel worthless. Whenever you find yourself feeling less than what you are, remember that you lack nothing because you are loved by a God that is so amazing and mighty and perfect. He uniquely handcrafted you in His image. The way you are is exactly how he created you. You are perfect.
“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.” Psalm 51:10-12
You will face times where you feel you have fallen far from God. You have chosen yourself over Him and you don’t feel like you are able to go back. Call out to your Heavenly Father who loves you so deeply, who calls you his beloved. He will purify your heart, bring His joy back you, and will sustain you. He isn’t as far away as you think.
“From the end of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe.” Psalm 61:2-3
There will be times you are exhausted, physically, mentally and spiritually. You don’t know how to continue on and you are crying out for some sort of break. As you grow faint, call out to God for he will bring you a strength you never knew existed. Fall to Him and rely on Him for everything. He will pull you out of your quicksand. He will protect you and carry you through everything you have to face.
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23
College is full of temptation and people ready to tempt you. Don’t fall for it. Stay strong in your ways and your faith. You can slip into sinful ways without realizing it. Remember that you become like the five people you hang out with most. How you act represents what has the strongest hold on your heart. Let the Lord have the strongest hold and let Him be the one to flow from you and out to others. Instead of letting others temp you, show them the light, salvation and love that comes only from the Lord.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
Every year of college is one less year you have before the real world, and that is terrifying. You have no idea what to do with your life let alone what you’re going to do next month. When you are filled with fear or anxiety about your future, look to the Lord. Live your life for Him, a life that shows others Him, a life to please Him and He will guide your footsteps down the path He has planned for you. Trust Him with everything you have because that is when you allow Him to fully come in and take control. He will not take you down a wrong path. He might take you down a path you never expected, but what is at the end is far better than anything you could imagine. Trust Him and have faith, you will be taken care of.
