For most of my life I grew up in Asheville, NC. I absolutely love living here! Asheville is such a unique city with so much to do. Plus, it is absolutely beautiful everywhere you go. I would recommend everyone visit at some point in their life. While I'm home for the summer, I thought I'd share some things to do in Asheville during the summer. Whether you take a day trip, live here, or visit for a while, here are some things you might check out!
1. The Blue Ridge Parkway
The Blue Ridge Parkway is absolutely stunning! There's always the highway when you want to get around, but on the parkway you can take the scenic route. Going on the parkway can be as simple as just taking a drive and looking at the views, to having a picnic or checking out some awesome hiking trails.
2. Eat and Drink Beer
Asheville is known for all of it's unique cuisine. There are so many different types of restaurants to try, you can find anything you want to eat! If you're old enough, Asheville is also home to many breweries and places to get local beer. If you are a beer connoisseur, it is definitely somewhere to check out.
3. Breakout Asheville
The very first escape room in Asheville just opened, and it truly is a blast. They currently offer three different scenarios for their rooms, and have more coming. At Breakout, you and a group of people are locked in a room and have one hour to figure out how to escape. Bring just a few friends or a small group, and you're guaranteed to have a great time!
4. The Biltmore Estate
Asheville is definitely known to being the home of the Biltmore Estate. On the estate grounds you can tour the house, walk through the gardens, visit the barns, shop in the old stables, and sample in-house made wines at the winery. Plus, they have many restaurants on site as well. Even if you've been to the Biltmore Estate before, they're always changing exhibits and adding new ones, and another visit would never hurt.
5. The Movies
While going to the movies isn't something native to Asheville, there are so many great movies coming out this summer. On a rainy or overly hot day, this would be something to do as well.
6. Downtown Asheville
Something everybody needs to experience at least once in their life, is downtown Asheville. It is home to numerous yummy restaurants and fun stores. Just walking around downtown and checking out what it has to offer can be very enjoyable. On Friday nights, you can attend the Drum Circle as well. The Drum Circle is a welcoming environment where anybody can participate in drumming, dancing, or just watching all that is happening.
When planning your next trip to Asheville, or something to do if you live here, consider some of these options for some summer fun!
