Chances are that if you're a college student or a recent college graduate, you are constantly short on money. And like many of us, maybe you're looking to build up your savings, or make a little extra pocket cash for your weekly Target runs and late-night pizza orders. If that's the case, these six apps will help you do just that. All of these are popular iOS and Android apps; some that will help you save, and others that will help you have more to spend.
Save More Money:
1. Target Cartwheel
If you're a frequent Target shopper, this is a great app for saving money on your grocery shopping trips. On this app, Target lists a huge number of their food and other items at discounts ranging from 5 percent to 20 or 30 percent. Before you go shopping, you can build a cart of items you know you want to grab, and then scan the barcode at checkout to receive the discount. You can also shop and then scan the items you've picked up to see if any are on Cartwheel's discount listings before checking out.
2. Groupon
By now, you probably know about Groupon, but have you ever used it? Groupon, a website and an app, is super user friendly. If you're looking for date night ideas, discounts on dinner out, or even an oil change coupon, you can find all of that on Groupon at hugely discounted prices. Just browse the app, find the one that fits what you're looking for, and save tons of money on it! Groupons do expire, but even if they do, the value you pay to Groupon never expires and can be used again for something else.
3. Retail Me Not
This app is about as simple as it gets. It shows all the best active coupons and deals at any store you can imagine. Any you think you might use you simply save in the app to return to in-store. You can also get alerts about nearby deals or daily updates of the best deals out there. Learn more or join here.
Make Extra Money:
4. Shopkick
On this extremely popular app, users gain points by making purchases, inviting friends, and even just by walking in the door of the store. The points can then be accumulated and redeemed for gift cards to those same stores you already shop at! For more information, see their website here.
5. Vinted
I used this app frequently for quite awhile and it worked very well for me to make a little extra money. It's an app much more suited to women, as it's primarily designed as a place to buy, sell and swap women's clothes. I have seen some men's clothes on the app as well, though they're much less common and take longer to sell. Essentially, you collect any clothes, shoes or accessories you're no longer using, photograph them, and then post each item with a detailed description. You choose the price and the size of the shipping the purchaser would pay. When it's sold, you have five days to ship the package using the label that is automatically sent to you, and once it's received by your buyer, you get paid. You can read more information on how to start your Vinted account here.
6. Boxes
Boxes allows you to organize and sell your items, as well as buy from other members. It works well for people with collections or valuables, but seems to work for general household items and clothes as well. You can make some extra money and then go shopping on the app with your new profits! More information can be found here on their website.
