I was born in 1995, 20 years ago. When I say that I am a 90s kid, oftentimes, people older than me chuckle and tell me that I was not able to understand the 90s at age four. However, I have one awesome memory and had teenager friends at the time (I was the coolest five-year-old on the block!), so needless to say, I was well versed in the trends of the 90s. I also miss them. With throwbacks making a comeback, these are the 90s trends that I wish would come back!
1. Weekend morning cartoons.
There was a time long, long ago, when cartoons aired new episodes on the weekends, when all the little boys and girls had to wake up with the sun to see the latest installment. Now shows have a tendency to release new episodes on weekdays. What?! Not only is this so wrong in so many ways, but I can only imagine the toll it can take on student's learning abilities when television shows get in the way of homework.
2. The Oregon Trail.
Why is this not still a thing? I wish I could still find a way to play this game and see if there is any way to avoid dying from dysentery.
3. Troll Dolls.
While these are steadily making a small comeback, more people think they're more creepy than worthy of gracing new trends. However, these little trolls were so much more enjoyable to practice your hair styling skills on than Barbie was. Maybe it is because they are colorful and adorable, each one unique, while Barbie was always the same, but whatever the reason, I loved these little guys and I miss them.
4. Cassette Tapes and Videos.
I will one day recreate my entire Disney VHS tape collection, but it seems rather pointless when I don't a VHS player. There was something so classic about how movies and music played on VHS player or an old radio. The closest word I can come up with is timeless. While DVDs, Blueray, and Netflix will always be important, I wish we could bring back the Video and music cassettes that hold a special place in all our hearts.
5. Dunkaroos.
I just want to have little kangaroo-shaped cookies that I can dunk in frosting! I don't know why these went off the market, but they would be a huge hit if they came back now!
6. Good Music.
If anything, I wish we could get 90s Grunge music back in full swing. Out with the pop that is slaughtering the top charts and in with some awesome grungy perfection. We already have the style back, we just need some bomb music to bring it all home.
I am such a 90s nerd, and I wish that there would be more comebacks in full swing. Throwbacks and trips down memory lane are sweet little times to reminisce and allow good times to wash over you like a warm blanket. With all the throwbacks that are making comebacks, some things need to continue on coming back. These are just a few things out of many from the 90s that do need to come back and that I can't wait for!
