Barack Obama and I have two people in common that we both love. Those two people are Joe Biden and Michelle Obama. This is not an article to tell you who to vote for in the upcoming election or an article about the election at all. In fact, the only time I will bring up Barack Obama again is when I refer to him as Michelle's husband.
Let's be honest, whether you are a democrat or a republican, I think we can all agree that Michelle Obama is and forever will be an icon. She has accomplished so much in the past eight years since her husband has been in office. She is speaking up and empowering young woman by saying things like, "There is no boy at this age that is cute enough or interesting enough to stop you from getting an education." Any woman empowering other women is automatically a queen in my book. At this point, speaking directly to young girls of the next generation is what is going to fix the problems of tomorrow. It's important to not only tell them that they can do anything they want to do in life, but to also tell them that it doesn't require a boy to get there. There is no doubt in my mind that even if Michelle Obama never married a man that went on to become the President of the United States, that she still would have worked her whole life trying to inspire and motivate young girls. She knows she has a great opportunity to spread the word and takes full advantage of it to make a difference, as opposed to other things like going on extravagant trips and vacations.
Not only has she constantly been speaking up and giving life lessons to the young girls of America, but she has also created the "Lets Move" campaign. In this program, she encourages all kids to go outside and get active to try to work toward America being healthier and, in return, happier.
She started her success out by graduating from Princeton, which is no easy thing (obviously). Throughout the years, she has done many things that are considered firsts for the First Ladies. One of these things is being a lot more involved with media that is geared toward the younger generation. Some of these examples would be teaming up with TV networks like Nickelodeon to get kids outside, and even singing Beyonce on James Corden's Carpool Karaoke. She has been the First Lady for more than one third of my life, and during that one third it was in the stage of my life where I was growing and developing my own feelings and opinions about the world. She has definitely inspired me and is someone who I look up to.
I mean, come on, her name was in a popular Fifth Harmony song. You really can't get any more iconic than that.
