50 Thoughts I Have Every Time I Go Out During the Winter

1. It’s finally the weekend! Woohoo!

2. Damn, the weather forecast is predicting temps to hit the single digits at night…

3. Oh well, I’ll just bundle up.

4. What do I wear?

5. Okay, jeans or leggings obviously, do people actually wear skirts and dresses out in the winter?

6. Wait this is Rutgers, so probably.

7. Short sleeve or long sleeve shirt?

8. The wind sounds pretty nasty outside, better go with the long sleeve.

9. There’s still snow on the ground, do I go with my classic black frat boots or snow/rain boots?

10. I’ll just go with the frat boots, it’s not like there’s snow in the house or anything.

11. I don’t want to bring out my winter jacket, so I’ll just grab one of the many frackets I’ve accumulated in the last year.

12. Okay, finally ready to go!

13. Wow this house is farther than I remember it being when I went in the fall.

14. Does anybody shovel their sidewalks anymore? My boots are getting ruined by the salt and slush and my feet are freezing.

15. I really hope I don’t get sick from being out in this cold.

16. I should have worn another layer; this high school lacrosse sweatshirt just isn’t cutting it.

17. Finally here!

18. I feel so bad for the pledges that have to stand in the driveway tonight.

19. Wow, it’s like an instant sauna in here.

20. Now I have to find some clever spot to hide my fracket. Kitchen cabinets or behind a couch is always the move.

21. Time to hit the bar and the dance floor!

22. Wow the dance floor is packed. It’s at least 10 degrees warmer than the other parts of the house.

23. I’m totally regretting not going with the short sleeve shirt now.

24. Maybe I’ll go outside and get some fresh air real quick.

25. Worst decision I’ve had all night it is freezing out here.

26. Back down to the basement to warm up, dancing always helps.

27. How is it 2 a.m already? I guess I should probably start walking back.

28. How did all these other people find the same hiding spot for their frackets?

29. Did someone really steal mine? What could you possibly want my junior year lacrosse hoodie for?

30. Whatever, it wasn’t even that warm anyway.

31. Well now I need a jacket to go home with…

32. Sorry girl whose navy zip up this is, I gotta do what I gotta do.

33. This is so much warmer than mine, nice pick!

34. Since when did it start snowing?

35. Wait now I miss my sweatshirt with the hood. Ugh.

36. All this slush froze over and I literally feel like an Olympic ice skater trying to maneuver these sidewalks.

37. Only a block away from home, I’ve got this.

38. Where did I put my key? Oh right in my boot.

39. Let me try to balance on one foot on some ice while digging into my shoe for the key.

40. Gotcha! Wow I’ve never been so happy to be back in my cramped and overly-heated dorm room.

41. Why do I keep sneezing? I better not have gotten the flu.

42. If I keep going out three times a week in this weather, I probably will get the flu…

43. Wow I could really go for some pizza right now.

44. And pizza is hot and I’m cold so this makes perfect sense.

45. I feel bad for the pizza guy, it’s so cold out there.

46. I’ll give him a decent tip I guess.

47. Yaaaaas pizza was definitely the move.

48. I’m so warm and happy now.

49. I better go to sleep soon, my bed looks so cozy.

50. Finally all snuggled in, I don’t think I can do this again tomorrow night… but I probably will.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
