I hate New Year’s resolutions. There, I said it. For the most part, they’re pointless. That’s not to say that all people break their resolutions. Some people actually do go through with theirs and accomplish some amazing feats! But for most people, they give up on their goals fairly quickly. “Go to the gym more often” “lose weight”, and “eat fewer sweets” are all typical resolutions that get broken within a couple weeks or even days of the hour hand hitting 12 on January 1st.
Rather than make a resolution, why not strive toward becoming a better person every day and every year, without end? Everyone can find something that they need to work on as a person, so instead of hitting up the stationary bike a couple times this year and giving up, why not strive to be better at something or make it a goal to fight towards becoming something better?
It took barely any time at all to get a list this long, so I’m sure if you sat down to think you could come up with more yourself or even think of one or more that you really need to work on!

After all is said and done, New Year’s resolutions tend to be made because we are unhappy with some aspect of our lives upon reflection of our past year. Once you realize that you are a truly unique person that cannot be replaced and are important, it becomes so clear on what it is you need to be the best you! Take time to think about how you want to improve as a person this year and every year, maybe in addition to hitting the gym every week (or not)!
Everyone has room for improvement and no one is perfect. Don’t be so hard on yourself! Picture 2016 and the many years to come as blank canvases simply waiting to become the beautiful masterpieces which depict the very essences of your life. Don’t let them sit there blank or devoid of originality from the previous years’. Experiment, take chances, and have fun!
