50 Realistic Things To Do Before You Die
we heart it

I know I’m not the only one who goes on social media to find pictures of young adults on exotic beaches I cannot even pronounce and makes a mental note to travel there one day. We all dream about going to these places and read those “50 Things To Do Before You Die” lists, but as a realist, I’ve come to accept that I probably won’t ever go to that island in the middle of ocean halfway across the world. But hey, maybe I’ll hit the lottery tomorrow or something!

Life is about a lot more than skydiving in Hawaii or backpacking across Europe. So just in case you don’t win a million dollars, here is a list of some realistic things to do before you die (and maybe you already checked a few off):

1. Attend a college you love. (check)

2. Join a club you never thought you would.

3. Go out even when you know you really shouldn't.

4. Live in a house with your best friend.

5. Dye your hair.

6. Stop worrying about what other people think of you.

7. Kiss the boy everyone warned you about.

8. Admit to your friends that they were right about him.

9. Take a chance on somebody.

10. Volunteer at a soup kitchen.

11. Get an internship in the city.

12. Go home with that guy from the bar.

13. Get a degree.

14. Get a job you love.

15. Go on a diet.

16. Break that diet four days later.

17. Get a gym membership (if I can't diet, I guess I can run).

18. Live in a tiny apartment.

19. Go to lots of wine tastings.

20. Adopt a dog.

21. Adopt a cat.

22. Move on from the guy you thought you loved.

23. Go to a five-star restaurant even though you really can't afford to.

24. Get a tattoo.

25. Learn to play guitar.

26. Grow a garden.

27. Kiss someone in the rain.

28. Kiss someone under fireworks.

29. Fall in love for real this time.

30. Marry him.

31. Move to somewhere new.

32. Buy a house.

33. Train for a marathon.

34. Run a marathon.

35. Start a family.

36. Hold your child for the first time.

37. Watch your parents hold your child for the first time.

38. Learn how to kickbox.

39. Go to your high school reunion.

40. Laugh about it.

41. Take your kids to Disney World.

42. Get to the peak of your career.

43. Watch your kids graduate college.

44. Cry.

45. Watch your kids get married.

46. Cry.

47. Hold your grandchild.

48. Cry.

49. Retire with the person you love.

50. Be able to look back on your life and not regret a moment of it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
