As the year comes to a close, people usually take this time to reflect on themselves and the choices they've made. New Years is a time to make changes, to improve yourself and your life. While everyone makes New Years Resolutions, and swear they're going to keep them this year, I'll say about 9 out of 10 people actually do.

I'm happy you are making these resolutions to try and better yourself, but come on, we know you're going to give up two weeks into the year.

1. I'm going to join a gym

Yeah right! Who are you fooling? You probably won't even step foot into a gym until half-way through 2017. If by some miracle you do actually go, it'll be for a few weeks so you can say you tried it, post some selfies on Instagram, and then decided it wasn't for you.

2. I'm going to eat healthy/clean/vegan/whatever

Sure you are. Let me know how that week long of eating kale salads are while I'm over here stuffing my face. I admire you for trying to stick this one out, but life sucks without some nice greasy food and you know it.

3. I'm going to cut out people from my life

So once it's January first you're just going to start blocking people? It's hard to suddenly just start eliminating people from your life, and just because its a new year doesn't really give you a decent reason to start. Grow a back bone any other time of the year.

4. I'm so done with (insert s/o here) next year

No, you're not. Be done with them right now, other wise you're going to keep sticking around with them and you two will end up like Ron and Sammi, and we all know how that went.

5. New year, new me.

STOP SAYNG THIS OMG STOP IT!! You want to change and that is awesome but you never become a new you! You just eat less Taco Bell or talk to less people, calm down. This phrase is so over done and annoying. It's impossible to take this seriously anymore.

Stop waiting until New Years to make a change in your life. If you want to get healthier or wherever it is you want, then do it now. Stop putting it off, or bragging about it on social media and then giving up on it. Commit or shhh.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
