Lent: a period of fasting, moderation, and self-denial traditionally observed by Catholics and some Protestant denominations. It begins with Ash Wednesday and ends with Easter Sunday. Now, there are more than just Catholic and Protestant denominations of the Christian faith that practice Lent, which means there are hundreds upon thousands of Christ followers who dedicate 40 days to their intimate walk with Christ. These forty days are about so much more than giving up your favorite candy or your favorite binge-worthy series on Netflix. This period of time is about strengthening your walk with God, and I thought... "What better way to enhance that than through music?" The following are some of my favorite songs to sing during worship or to just sit down and relax to while I reflect on all the awesome things that God has done in my life.
1. "Dance With Me" -Jesus Culture
By providing an extremely calming worship environment, this song is by far my favorite to sing during worship.
2. "All We Sinners" -Crowder
My favorite verse is: "The crimson river, like a flood Came washing over all of us It swallowed sin and death right up And all we sinners sang Yeah, all we sinners sang" The song provides reassurance when you are going through tough times or just simply need a reminder that Jesus is alive and you are saved! The video I have included is from this year's (2016) Passion Conference in Atlanta, GA at Phillip's Arena, produced by Passion City Church.
3. "Good Good Father" -Chris Tomlin
Flooded with immense comfort, Christians whose faith is being challenged should find refuge. The video is from this year's Passion Conference!4. "Lose It All" -Rush of Fools
I first heard Rush of Fools when I went to church camp one summer and ever since then I've been a huge fan. It provided inspiration while discussing how one should refrain from worldly values. Plus, it has a more upbeat mood than the others!
5. "Revelation Song" -Kari Jobe
A sense of peace that is produced from the song allows it to become the most moving worship song I have had the privilege to sing. Thankfully, I had the opportunity to sing, while Kari Jobe led the song herself, therefore creating a special place in my heart. The lyrics are a perfect reminder of God's excellence and perfection!
