Summer break, at last! Let’s just say I’ve heard my fair share of finals horror stories this past semester—students camping out in the library, surviving off of coffee and scrambling to write a 10-page research paper in the time it takes me to get out of bed in the morning.
We’ve worked our asses off this semester and we deserve a break, damn it! Here’s a list of five ways we can really take advantage of this summer to relax, unwind, and, dare I say it, prepare for next semester.
1. Hit the beach.
Do I even have to say it? Grab your favorite summer read and that new bikini (you know, the one that makes your boobs look awesome) and soak up some vitamin D! Sunshine makes everyone happier; I mean, that’s pretty much a fact. And who doesn’t love a nice coastal breeze or a cool dip in the ocean?
2. Yoga.
Yoga is a huge stress reliever as well as a mental and physical health booster. If you’re feeling lazy, just roll out your mat and do a few stretches in your room. If you’re feeling energetic and inspired, challenge yourself to work on some of the more difficult poses or even go check out some classes held at your local studio!
3. Take a road trip.
There’s nothing more empowering than getting together a few of your closest friends and hitting the road with no destination in mind. Grab some cash, snacks for the ride, put together a few mix tapes and get out there! Explore, explore, explore!
4. Catch up with your girls.
You know the ones. The friends you pretty much grew up with that you probably haven’t seen since winter break and haven’t texted in a few weeks. (Oops, we can blame that one on finals?) Regardless, whenever you get together, it’s like nothing has changed! The bond you have is totally invincible, and you challenge anyone to come between you. Take advantage of this summer and grab some brunch with your ladies!
5. Snuggle Up
Sure, friends are cool and everything. Parties, festivals, socializing—all great things. But honestly, we all have those days where we just want to hide from the world (or pretty much anything past the sofa). Because, honestly, who needs to shower and make an effort to look presentable when we can just chill out with Netflix in our PJs all day?
