Growing up in Lusby, Maryland definitely had it's good and bad parts. However, Lusby taught me a lot, and I carry a lot of memories here. It's where I spent most of my life, and it's where I call home. I hated it for a while, but I began to love it once I was older. I'm sure if you grew up in Lusby, you feel the same way I do, and you'll be able to relate to these 19 things.

1. Paxnation will always be considered family.

Although high school was kind of a drag, the students and faculty formed a bond at Patuxent. We always want to see our own succeed, too.

2. The Thomas Johnson Bridge is always referred to as "The Bridge."

If you call it the Thomas Johnson Bridge, you will probably get some funny looks.

3. You know the bridge is always backed up.

Whether it is because of the base letting out or there was an accident, there is always something going on.

4. You watch Mount Lusby grow, and it has now turned into a forest.

Mount Lusby wasn't supposed to be formed, but here we are. It even has its own Facebook page.

5. You always complained about there being nothing to do.

Because there really is nothing to do.

6. Dowell is considered the superior elementary school.

Because kids do well at Dowell, right?

7. There's always something sketchy going on in front of Lusby Liquors or Fastop.

Yeah. Just ignore it.

8. The Chesapeake Ranch Estates is referred to as "Ranch Club."

Who even calls it the Chesapeake Ranch Estates? They should change the signs.

9. Drum Point, Ranch Club, Rousby Hall Woods, and Cove Point are all distinctly different neighborhoods.

Each one comes with their own reputations and income levels. People are always making judgments about them.

10. You always knew when the Tiki Bar opening was even before you turned 21.

It usually opens in April, but people are always talking about it and are so excited about the opening.

11. If you ever wanted to do something, you usually went to Solomons Island and walked the boardwalk.

Solomons always seems to be the go-to. Its breathtaking views and ice cream are always needed.

12. There are beaches/bodies of water everywhere.

Literally everywhere.

13. During the summer, you could stand outside your house and watch the planes fly over.

The base is always running tests and checking their planes, so they fly overhead pretty often. They're usually pretty low, too.

14. People have literally no idea where the town is.

Yeah. There's no point and even explaining it because they are still lost.

15. Whenever you said you were from Lusby, people looked at you funny.

They look at you like you're speaking a different language.

16. The tire park was the coolest thing in the world.

If you didn't go to the tire park, you're lame.

17. You'll never run out of pizza, Mexican food, grocery stores, or coffee.

So let's think. As far as pizza, there is Ledo's, Domino's, and Pizza Hut. For Mexican food, you can have Moe's or Salsa's. You can also choose between Weis Market's (previously Food Lion) or Giant. and you have three options of coffee. You can do to Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, or Donut Connection. Of course, they're all in the same shopping center or across the street from one another.

18. If you didn't go to the Cove Point Water Park in the summers in elementary and middle school, you were lame.

It was always super busy, and you always had to ask your parents for $4 to get in.

19. You probably went on a field trip to the Calvert Marine Museum once or twice.

Getting to see the otters was always the best part.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
