It's easy to beat yourself up over things. We all have this pre-conceived notions of who we think we should be. If you're not living up to your expectations, that does not mean that you aren't enough. Realizing your self-worth is the pathway to a happy life.
1. Know your flaws and embrace them.
Everyone has a trait about themselves that they don't like. No matter what you're self-conscious about, know that you aren't the only person that has insecurities. Once you learn how to live past your flaws, you will feel more at ease. Instead of hiding your flaws or being ashamed of them, embrace them. They're what makes you unique.
2. Appreciate the little things.
Have small achievements for yourself each day. Even if they aren't a big deal to anyone else, knowing that you accomplished a goal you set can be empowering. This will help build your self-esteem.
3. Stop comparing yourself to other people.
People always say "the grass is greaner on the other side." However, you have no clue what's going on in someone else's life. Everyone has troubles that they're dealing with. Just because someone looks like their life is perfect doesn't mean that they're not struggling also.
4. Don't worry so much.
Whether you failed a test, your best friend said something mean about you behind your back, you got fired from your job or a number of other things, that's okay. You don't need to take these rough patches to heart too much. This doesn't mean that you're a failure or that your life is over. You're still awesome and you'll be able to make it through.
5. Understand that you're here for a reason.
You have the ability to influence many people's lives just from solely existing. There are so many people that care about you. Even if you feel that you aren't good enough or that you're alone, that doesn't mean that you're right. Chances are, there are handfuls of people willing to tell you about your self-worth because they can see and realize it.
Realizing your self-worth isn't easy. It's a long process that goes through trial and error. If you keep working on being happy and carefree, you eventually will be. The less time you spend thinking about all of the negatives, the more time you'll spend realizing how okay life actually is. This will lead to you realizing that life really is great and that you're great too.
