If you ask me, summer time should be the one time of year that you take to yourself and focus on doing things that make you happy just because you deserve it! So I put together a list of a few things that I like to do more in the summer because they make me happy.
1. Lay in the sun for hours.
There are honestly not many things that I love more than laying in the sun listening to music and soaking in some Vitamin D for the day. It is so relaxing, plus you usually will get a tan. Don’t forget to wear some kind of sunscreen though so that you protect your skin!
2. Have a beach day with your girlfriends/guy friends.
If you happen to live somewhere near a beach like I do, then take advantage of the nice weather during the summer and have a beach day! Bring popsicles, towels, and sunglasses and chill out for the day.
3. Look up fun recipes for different popsicles (to take on your beach day of course).
This doesn’t have to just go for popsicles, you could look up fun recipes for anything really. I just happen to have a lot more time on my hands during the summer, so I love to try out new things to make. My favorite popsicle recipe is blueberries and mint mixed in with Greek yogurt and frozen! So so yummy.
4. Wake up early.
I know this one might sound a bit strange, especially if you are a student and are used to getting up early for class. However, I seriously love my days so much more if I get up early, and the early hours of the morning are my absolute favorite parts of the day. I wake up in the morning, make my coffee or tea and sit out on my deck and check e-mails, go on my computer, and read my book. It is the most peaceful time of the whole day because nobody is bothering me, and I have no other obligations at that time. Plus, then I feel like I have been more productive with my day rather than if I slept until 9 or 10.
5. Exercise.
Now this one I do the entire year, but during the summers I tend to have much more time to focus on my workouts and more time to plan them out. I love to try new workout classes like a spin class or a yoga class, because I actually have the time to go during the summer. I also tend to take much more time to plan out my cardio and my strength workouts. I have found that doing research online about the best workouts for the results you want to have is the best way to plan things out. There are so many good resources out there on the Internet! This can also tie in with my last tip about waking up early because I do my workouts in the morning. When I exercise, I feel a million times better for the whole rest of the day.
Ultimately, I would say that summer should be a time of relaxation, so make that your main focus. Try not to stress out about too many things and just focus on being happy. Enjoy the sunshine and warm weather and do things for yourself every day!
